  1. Wartime Fuel. That would be special.

Anything that will allow the Mustang to perform against the German planes which seem to seriously outperform against the Mustangs in every aspect.

It would be nice too if ED would finally get around to REPAIRING WEP when doing a repair.

The repair fixes everything else including blown engine but never replaces the WEP Wire. So all subsequent flights throttle into full WEP whether we want it or not.

The Tiger lives!! What got you out of your den?

I just popped in here to see if there was any real point to even trying the 25 (weight...) but no. No point. As for Stangs in general, still no API, damage model upgrades, fuel or weight, G-suit.....

It's pretty flipping obvious... the bias.

  2. i would be interested if there is staff dedicated to ww2 and working exclusively on the warbirds and maps...and how many are they? as a guy who is almost only interested in the ww2 content in dcs, it was sobering to read that they stopped working on the damage model because of the yak52. there was an interview with yo-yo where he mentioned it would take them about 5months to develop a warbird....but the sad truth we are facing is that the actual pace is 4times longer...

The Yak-52 was /is more important than the damage model?

New damage model is in production now. When the system itself will be ready we'll start to make new component models for every plane (WWII at least).

    Great news.........

Very much looking forward to the new damage model.

One question Racoon if I may, will the Spitfire have the new component model on release or will that come at a later date and at the same time as the rest of the WWII fleet?

Lots to look forward to on the DCS WWII front then.......awesome news.

These little updates and snippets of info keep us going, many thanks for sharing what you can with us

Coming up on two years, now.....

  4. The red flares.... 36FBS, my dad's outfit. The reflectiveness of the skin is dependent on dirt, smudge, buffing compound (if used), scoring and scratching from harsh polishing (dull shine), and even oxidation or combinations of the above. You'll get different degrees of glare, reflection, mirror, brightness depending on all those things.

I think the OP's work is fantastic. Now, whatever condition of the skin it represents is debatable, because you'd have to show, by comparison, just what method of upkeep that particular bird fell under, and what changes it experienced from time to time.

I like the work. Looks great to me. Set it and forget it. But a dull, less mirror-like representation would work, too. Maybe work something up for the nay-sayers. The appearance varied according to pop.

If you find that my skins are inaccurate, everyone is welcome to not use them, and download other skins they find more accurate. But using a skin I put countless hours in making, stating it's wrong, and changing it to their taste saying "here, this is what it should look like" - I think it crosses a few borders.

Along with that, it would be difficult to pair up late war American planes and late war Japanese planes. The Japanese planes near the end of the war were simply no match for planes such as the corsair hellcat or mustang (pretty much their only advantage is turn radius). I can't see many people spending money on Japanese planes only to get shafted by a bunch of Americans.

Oh, I dunno know about that. There are plenty of Jerry-bird pilots out there and we Stang drivers still buckle-up. I assume the Axis pilots would be happy to swap roles?

  6. Nowadays, I load up 45% fuel, climb, and wait. Watching as best as my blind self can as I do so.

And, yeah, my best engagements are B&Z. As he's going up, I'm head down fast and his distance perception gets blown to pieces. I'm beginning to think that a lot of the better Krauts are too used to maneuvering in close quarters... or starting from above. Perhaps the Mustang pilots oughta say, "to Hell with all a y'all... come up and play. If they were all above 25K, things would get more interesting. Might bag a few Jerrys on their way home because NO FUEL. Might bag a few coming up to meet ya because they're slow and you cna pick the angle. Might bag a few staying fast. Might get home alive because you have altitude to trade for speed and distance....

I dunno. Just say SCREW IT and stay high. Besides, when the Forts get to be more present in server missions, there will be a reason for the Stang to exists in the first place. Come and get 'em, Jerry. You don't, we bomb the hell out of your frau's garden. You do, and we chew on your tail.

  7. That's why we need proper online missions, probably after we get all wwii assets. I'm also sick'n'tired of those 'airquakes', but on the other hand, I haven't seen too many players on BlueFlag..

I'm hoping my Dogs of War mates will be back when the unified game comes out. IF....

A couple have said the old missions we ran broke when the newer versions came out, and they won't rewrite them until there is something unified and stable.

I expect high altitude bomber missions then. We had a few before, with modded bombers, and it made for interesting fights up high.

  8. I doubt many people had the foresight to hold all that information for future simulations makers :)

I'm surprised that as much survived as it did. We went from WWII into a period of national hope that we could be free from that kind of fighting. Korea came about, we unpackaged all those pieces of WWII mothballed equipment and tried to fight.

Learned fast that the machines in development and production were both needed (gotta have something), and yet already foreseen as obsolete in the view of the arms race.

With our all out push for new jet engines and airframes, those poor old prop jobs just weren't seen as important. Even less so for companies that were absorbed or outright closed down. Poor jug. Never stood a chance. The field of machines being developed was just too wide to carry over many of the old birds. Their info wasn't needed....

  9. I don't really care. I'm happy with the one we have. Another version is always welcome though.

Actually, what I really want is the P-47. :)

    Yup! Bring on the Jug.

But I'm looking forward to a Stang with the MAP and fuel mods she deserves.

  10. +1 This needs to happen, it just seems to be all over the place at the moment. Nothing quite finished.

Agree. The foundation needs to be in stone, solid and not prone to fooking up previously working features when changes are made.

  11. I don't think it's like comparing ED to Apple and liscencing it's OS and hardware. Seems more like comparing it to the APP developers.... afterall, modules are like aps on the Sim Engine. Apple's app process is controlled fairly well, and anyone wishing to write them has to get approval and go through the store - unlike Droid (cough, hack spit) stuff that you can get anywhere - just like STDs. No control. No safeties.

ED could open it up further. Just that everything has to pass muster and perform as billed prior to the development. "Here's the list you handed us, that we approved for dev. But your module doesn't do as you said it would. Sorry, no go this time."

They would be testers inthis regard, and would bring in trusted users for play testing as well.... on ED's server.

I think it's doable. Some dev wants to make a few bucks, they have to produce.

What ED has to do is commit to upgrades and patches that don't hose up previously proven features. That means better foundational coding practices. It's a beast of a product. I think it suffers from a lot of interworking patches with dependencies that are perhaps not quite well tracked. But them's just me guesses....

  12. I am sorry but it is not true. If you take away the feuselage fuel tank, how do you want to fly from Iwo Jima to Japan? I mean, they had to fly 8h missions and that would be impossible without the auxilary tank.:smartass:

The airplane "is always stalling and falling out of the air" because you do not have a good enough stick. You have two basic choices. 1) Make a stick with exact lenght of the real P-51D and get rudder pedals. 2) Change your curvature to remedy that.

I chose the second option and my P-51D can fly on the edge because I can feel the airplane well, due to my axis curvature.

Hey Solty, what are your stick sat and curve config numbers???
