  1. Opened. And like most threads along these lines, 8 pages later we're right back to where we started with no changes :smilewink:
  2. There are extraneous variables that could become a problem. What about a guy that goes 6-1 with 5 in a row then quits for the month? 51 points vs a guy that goes 40-20, going 2 for 1 on the way, and he has 20 points. Which is more impressive? Had the first guy flown 34 more times, it could very easily have evened out. And of that 5, who did he kill? I know there isn't an ELO system. But think about a possible situation where a server is almost empty, there are three noobs on red, you're on blue with one other person, and you've killed their awacs. How much easier is it in that scenario to rip of a couple of 5 kill runs? Wouldn't that skew the true "skill" displayed by your k:d ratio since it is a bonus and thus can't even out? One good afternoon in a month w/great k:d ratio over some noobs and you end up with a ton more points than someone who flys consistently all month with a 2:1 ratio? You want consistency, right? How about long haul consistency trumps flash in the pan great afternoon? See how bonus points might not award consistency in all scenarios? Heck, even worse, a server is empty, and two friends join on opposing sides. Person A lets Person B kill him twice. A leaves, comes in with a new name, gets killed twice, then does it a fifth time. Boom, 55 points instead of just 5. Right now it isn't worth the time or effort. But add a bonus? Sure you can try to police that, and i'm not saying it would be widespread, but it could, i repeat could be exploited. Also, right now on the 169th stats, you have the second lowest k:d ratio in the top ten, yet you're ranked third. Do you not feel you're being adequetly represented? I'm not saying you're wrong here, or that I have the answers. I'm just not sure that something as simple as giving 50 points for a run of 5 will always represent what it is intended to. Maybe in a vaccum...but not here. Maybe use a k:d modifier at the end of the month as long as you have a certain number of flights as a minimum if a change must be made, I don't know.
  3. I agree. While kill ratio does reflect some level of skill, I don't think it tells the whole story.
  4. Right, but my point was there might be something that is easily explainable
  5. Well I'm guessing that a single track might be enough to give us an idea of what is really going on. "Ideally" we wouldn't need all of that because it would be clear what is going on. If that can't be determined by the track, that would go a long way to changing the tone of this thread from "he likely isn't cheating, you don't know how to fly" to "Hmmm, this is weird, we need more info because this seems amiss." No?
  6. Where is your track? You are the one that records that. The track will suffice on its own, and a tacview can be made from the track.
  7. It would be easier to understand with a track than your explanations. I track would do wonders because if you're missing something, it will happen more than 20 times, until you learn why it is happening. and if he doesn't use something, then you are heare farting your brains outloud with accusations as you failed to provide proof of his actions. It is much easier to help with a track and tacview than it is with your "description"
  8. Except those that you don't like. In case I missed it somewhere, please post the track and tacview.
  9. Didn't you quit after 20 or 30 minutes anyway?
  10. This was a lot of fun last week. Looking forward to next Saturday as well!!!
  11. I like the rotation idea. Looking forward to giving the server a try this weekend. Congrats! 169th_Indy
  12. Occasionally pretending to be interested in what my wife has to say.
  13. I rode in a helicopter for a tour of Niagra Falls when I was a kid. Am I in?
  14. I am really looking forward to this event. The last one was a lot of fun for people of all skill levels IMO. I certainly see the appeal for certain events to be a "you're dead, you're out format," but I'm glad this one offers a different approach. I think it is important for newer pilots, like myself, to be able to join, and enjoy such events. I also believe things like this will help the newer guys fly and learn from the more experienced pilots. Furthermore, I truly believe that the more "noobs" that become involved, hooked on the game, and work to improve, the better lockon as a whole will be. More pilots becoming experienced=more events (of all types)=more fun. I think there is a place for one-and-dones and BSS type events alike. There were some good pilots participating last time, and some good ones signed up this time as well. That said, I think it would be sad, and not exactly a community builder, to have the attitude that one is "too good" for a respawn event. The more people that improve and increase the depth of skill of the community is always good IMHO  169th_Indy
