  1. Wow guys! Heaps of thanks for all the great input to my basic question(s)! I like what I hear. I simply just need more practice with the Huey and that suits me perfectly fine. I've come a long way with just a few sessions with set (personal) goals. Like taxing and takeoff, puting her down in more and more confined spaces (or intended spots). I am convinced there are no trouble with my input gear since what you all describe agrees with my experience of the sim. I will check out your video-tips and links to boost my learning. As for the Mi-8 and Gazelle, I might get them after many more hours in the Huey. Will make myself a variation of transport missions and start to explore what it can do. Again, thanks all for generous replies with useful hints & tips!
  2. Hello gents! I enjoy flying the UH-1H but find it very difficult. Have managed to do a few landings on DD-ships and other confined spaces, but have a long way to go until I feel I can do it in a controlled manner. Is it really so hard to fly? Or is it something I have calibrated badly (using X52Pro + G25 pedals)? The KA50 is piece of cake compared to the Huey (maybe a bit to far from reality?). I can do exactly what I intend and it feels like I'm flying the chopper, not the chopper flying with me, lol. My question is; are the Gazelle and Mi-8 modules just as hard to master as the Huey or more towards the KA50?
  3. Thanks BIGNEWY for a very swift reply! Sounds good then; the bundle (modules) will work for Nevada and Normandy. So in essence I only "loose" the High Stakes Campaign if I chooes to go for 2.x at the moment, right? I could always do the 2.x + 1.5 double install since I enjoy the A10-C over Caucasus (and would probably like the High Stakes Campaign with the WWII ladies). I know ED as a very dynamic (har-har) group so they would not really lock content unless there's a major code issue. Looking forward to the Caucasus coming to DCS 2. In the meantime, I'll probably park my A10 and Huey at Nevada :). All the best from a returning enthusiast (now, all in VR, CV1)!
  4. Dora + Kurfurst + Spitfire + Mustang + High Stakes campaign ? It says it requires DCS world 1.5. Now, I just downloaded and installed 2.x in order to also test the Normandy map. A bit confused. Do I have to revert back to DCS world 1.5 in order to install the above bundle? Naturally, I would want the bundle (modules) to work with Normandy terrain. I understand if the "High Stakes campaign" wont work if it's designed for the other geographical area? I guess I could have both 1.5 and 2.x installed if that'll allow me to fly over Krim and Nevada and Normandy? Tips apreciated! Greetings, /Ingolf
  5. Thanks QuiGon! I now have the A10 + KA50(2) + Combined Arms installed via ED (dropped the Steam version). It all works out very nicely! And the VR is amazing! Have to try to find my old keyboard layout/controls. I will fly with the Saitek X52 pro + G25 pedals. I know there was a bit of tweaking for the G25 pedals but I think I saved the instructions somewhere safe. What I did not do was to save my Huey in a safe place, it burned together with my external harddrive so I have no documentation of my purchase left, I'm afraid. Will look around a bit more in my license folders and with some luck I'll find it. Do ED save customer statistics so I might be able to retrieve it there? Anyway, this is such good news. Will sit around and stare at the A10-C gauges for a while, guess its a VR-noob syndrome... :) Only problem I have is to position myself correctly in the cockpit. Always sit to close up front, need to back down into my seat. Is there a shortcut key to RESET VR position? Keys to move position back/down etc? I know I'll have to go through the controls/key setup and see what I can find. [EDIT]: I found NUM-5 does the job to a certain extent, but it will have to be initialized correctly as you start up the game. I've entered 1.83 as my "height" for Oculus Rift, and that may cause the problem? Or does DCS take this into account and place a 1.83 cm body in the seat? Also, I found my Huey license at the website (stored with my profile)! All good then and thanks everyone for a warm welcome back! Time to explore Nevada a bit before busting the shores of Normandy! :D
  6. Wow, this is amazing news, QuiGon! Sorry for being such a sceptical hard*ss! Will start installing all from ED DCS and forget about Steam for a while. For some odd reason I thought the Oculus Rift support had to go through Steam. Can't wait to jump into the VR A10-C or the Huey! The Messerschmidt 109 is also on my wishlist together with the Normany map ofcourse!
  7. So all aircrafts are flyable in VR on the 1.5 ED DCS world platform? Or even just as stand alone A10-C/Huey? I can not really believe that, so I have to rephrase my question: What is the minimum platform that would accept my old A10-C and Huey (+Black Shark?). Now, going into testing the A10 and connecting it to ED DCS world. Many thanks for tips and hints!
  8. So with the 2.1 alpha, that means the ED tube works fine with Oculus Rift? No need for Steam then? But, I guess I'll have to re-buy the A10-C and Huey from ED in order to make tham work in VR? I mean, it's a totally new coding there, right? Thanks again for being patient with a VR-noob ;)
  9. Ok, so here's 2 questions that came up before I re-install the DCS platform: 1. What aircraft are flyable in VR (Oculus RIft, CV1)? 2. If I want to fly those aircrafts in VR, is Steam the only way to go, or do the ED installation support VR (Oculus Rift)? I can look ahead with steam and Oculus support, but wonder if the old A10C and Huey has been released in VR-mode via ED? The Steam Frogfoot and P51 Mustang was/is a gamechanger in VR! Thanks DCS devs for going down this road, indeed! :D
  10. Thanks joey45. And Andy1966 for the welcome back :) I think I'll uninstall my Steam DCS world and start over with everything from ED. My hopes are that I can still squeeze enjoyment out of my previously invested modules. The reason I started off with the Steam version was to quickly test the VR-support. But that is perhaps a non-issue then? Even downloading from ED wont cause conflicts when using Oculus Rift CV1? I know, I can read up a bit better, just being lazy (or rather eager to get up there) ;) The first take-off in the Frogfoot with my CV1 was a true sim changer! Absolutely fabulous! Can't wait until the Normandy setting gets more developed. I have a dozen IL2-companions that I need to bring to DCS Normandy (and Oculus Rift)! I'll let you know how my comeback goes. Many thanks, /Ingolf
  11. Thanks joey45 for swift reply! I still don't think I get where the development stands today. I need to do some more reading in order to grasp the options. In order to get VR-compatible (Rift Cv1) aircrafts, do I need to get them via Steam? Or is it possible to update/"transfer-to-steam" my old modules bought from ED? Can this be done via FC3? Sorry for my knowledge slip here, but the Steam DCS world Frogfoot (VR) got me tinkering with the ED A10C and I could not connect them both. Last time I played DCS I simply authorized the products via a key-GUI ingame. Thanks for reading, I really need to catch up on the Viggen too. :D
  12. I've been involved in DCS since... erm I don't know actually, but when the Black Shark saw first light I grabbed it. Was later in the A10 beta. I accumulated the KA-50(1) and (2) + A10C + Flaming Cliffs (re-injected) + UH-1H + Combined Arms + DCS world and more. Fantastic titles. Now, with an updated clean PC-rig + VR (and Steam convenience) I started with the DCS world via Steam. The Frogfoot and P51 are amazing in VR. My question: Are the above titles outdated in terms of VR (The A10, KA50(2), Huey, etc)? Do I need to repurchase them for full price in order to enjoy the new VR technology? I see the DCS World 2.1 is on the way and I really want to get back up into the air with my VR rig but I am a bit unsure of the path; Steam or ED? Are my old modules to any use in terms of the new interface? Any help appreciated on what I need to re-buy, and how. I do like the good old KA50, A10C, Huey, Frogfoot etc. But, planning to extend over Normandy with the 109 ofcourse! (and the reason for being long-time grounded; CMANO :)) Cheers, Ingolf
  13. Hi all! I have a hard time combining the above (title) and making the trim work properly. The shark handles ok with the stick (Extreme 3D pro) and the peddals from G25 (also, thanks for posting the rudder solution jason peters!). Somehow, the G25 overrides the stick. When both are plugged in, I can trim my rudder (using peddals and "T" for trim, as default). However, when pushing stick forward and trying to trim the pitch (attitude), it wont set the stick at the trim position. It simply falls back to center. If I use only the joystick (unplugging the G25), then the trim works as normal. So there is obviously a conflict! I tried switching th ID's of the two controllers from 1 to 2 and vice versa. No effect. Now I started to look in the files at ***\BlackShark\Config\Input\Aircrafts\ka-50\joystick and messed around with the input parameters. No success so far. It seems that although the sim responds to all inputs in game (both G25 peddals and the stick E3D Pro), when "T" is pressed, it only stores values coming from the G25. Shouldn't be so hard to solve? Anyone have experience of these two hardwares together in BS? And better yet, a solution? OK, so, this was a bigger problem than I thought. I'll try to solve it and come back with a solution if I ever find one :).
  14. Another Sven here! Good to see some fellow countrymen ;) I just started to learn the systems, but it would be great to do some coop. Cheers, Ingolf
  15. @Togrom: - a Bunch of thanx Tigrom! I'll check it up right now. About BS keeping you up until sunrise --- yep, know the disease... It's called FWL ... (fun without limits!) ;)
