  1. edit: actually just remembered that in TOO you can get also get couple of targets handed off by RWR as well if there are targets outside of HARM's FOV. They are displayed by the edges of the HARM screen. So to clarify - HARM is the main sensor in TOO but TOO is nowhere near the HTS. It can not get range data for example
  2. Hornet's equivalent to Viper's HTS would be TAS (Target Acquisition System) but I believe that never made it out of tests edit: Edit: "@EPSNtheGATOR at SP mode, RWR is the sensor I think." oh ofcourse, I originally typed something different and when I changed it I forgot to remove SP. RWR receives the signals and hands it to the HARM. Thanks, corrected
  3. HARM itself is the only sensor in TOO and it is in no way anywhere near the HTS.
  4. Using TOO in "target rich enviroment" when you have multiple radars picking you up allows you to select your desired target more easily. You are selecting targets on the DDI, instead of switching between targets on cluttered HUD. You also get better sense of the direction where the target is. You won't notice much of a difference in some simple mission with 2 or 3 SAM sites but in big scale scenario the SP would be nearly impossible to use efficiently. edit: also iirc TOO has some filter options so eg it won't show ships or it will only show ships etc.
  5. I wonder
  6. If you mean rockets from other plane, then if you are in range to fire regular rockets at them (even by lobbing them) you are already very close to get HARM through anyway, possible even close enough to make a run into minimal range zone. But I think SA-10 wouldn't target them anyway It perhaps could be done with MLRS. if the SA-10 will target the rockets then you can easily oversaturate it with just two MLRS units. If not then MLRS will sooner or later hit it. (question then is if SA-10 would be placed close enough to frontline to be within MLRS range in real life scenario, but then again this is game so who cares) edit: I just realized that you probably meant firing rockets into the void, not targetting anything. Just put them out there to be targeted by SA-10.
  7. It isn't pointless. First of all it's useful for tossing bombs. And with self designation you can for example designate AAA emplacement and destroy it quickly and easily from 10k-15k feet (haven't tried it higher) without putting yourself in a danger. I always play with some wind and it doesnt cause problems. The only problem is that while tossing only mk83s work properly. With level delivery all bombs work more or less fine.
  8. Great, thanks! Didn't know that even this little is already deadly for the engine
  9. Hey, I am still learning the Mig (got it 5 days ago) and I jumped into mp for the first time yesterday (was horrible) and in my last sortie my engine died like this. Now I didn't break IAS/Mach limit, there was hardly any AOA (positive or negative) and same for G load. I didn't fly inverted or anything. Anyone who could help so I can avoid it in the future? http://plays.tv/video/58704bcb711d1c13bb/engine?section=feed About 20 mins later when I was just flying in free flight this happened again, almost same alt and speed.
  10. Good luck to me and everyone else
