  1. To solve the issue I had to completely uninstall my AV (Bitdefender) in this case. Disabling it still caused the issue. I then ran the repair.bat from DCS and did the update again and now appears to working. Only AV I have now is Windows defender with the main DCS folder excluded from scans.
  2. I don’t have any AV running including windows defender. I’ve already excluded the core DCS folder and also included the bin folder and the bin_downloads folder just in case. I was going to run the clean up and repair.bin files tonight and as mentioned try update again. Will report back once done and detail if it worked or not.
  3. Hi all, have tried installing the latest update and keep getting error messages relating to terrain.dll not found among others. I've tried looking in the forums but cant find any answers. I have included the log file and a screenshot of one of the error messages. I've never had issues before so no idea what is happening. any help would be great. TIA GillyG null autoupdate_log.txt
  4. I have a warthog stick and it seems to have developed a slight twist. The stick itself is on tight and it seems to be coming from the gimbal ball. Does anyone know the cause of this and any possible fix. I'm guessing a tear down will be in order Any help would be great
  5. Thanks for all the suggestions! Using the TACAN at 90° seems to put me in the groove everytime, even though its quite a bit before the stern of the carrier A little confusing when all documents and tutorials say to turn when you see the round down of the ship, but this will always make your groove times excessive (well for me anyway) which from what I can gather can have a serious flow on effect for those in the pattern behind you. Whatever works I guess!
  6. Are you setting the tacan course 90 to the left and when you cross it you make your turn eg BRC: 353 TCN Course: 263 make the turn when you cross the course line
  7. Thanks for all the suggestions guys! Looks like I may of been turning a little too late. To my eye I now make the turn at what is probably the LSO station or when the left DDI is level with the stern of the ship. Only a few seconds really does make a difference. Different sight picture to learn in the turns now, but my groove times are a lot better. Cheers
  8. Hi all, Can’t find any posts about this and have watched numerous tutorials with not much progress. Have been using Banklers case 1 recovery trainer with the F18 and have been hitting all the numbers from the break right through to actually trapping. Literally 7/7 for all phases. However the only problem is I’m consistently getting 22secs in the groove even when I follow the ICLS needles. spacing at the downwind is 1.2nm turn exactly at the stern of the ship, heights and bank through the base and turn to final (groove) all hitting the numbers. But for the life can’t figure out why my groove time is so long. Can’t find any info to figure it out so though I would post here asking for any suggestions. Have literally read and watched every video and tutorial I can find on the net and still can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be great.
  9. Thanks guys! Thought it might be something along the lines of mental math. Would think a jet as advanced as the Hornet would have something built in. Even the simplest GA GPS's have turn cues. Guess it is a fighting airplane not a cross country tourer after all.
  10. Thanks guys! Big help!
  11. Hi all, I'm able to navigate to waypoints with no trouble but I always seem to overshoot them. Does the hornet have feature like a turn cue that flashes or the like to tell you when to turn to the next waypoint so you don't drastically overshoot it. Also is there a HSI indication to show how far off track you are on route to a waypoint. Something along the lines of how a VOR needle deflects. Any help would be great!
  12. Thanks guys! Got it sorted now, just the devils in the details i guess! Cheers!
  13. Ive seen that. But im more wondering if the altitudes are already set in the campaign mode? I can see all the info on how to get there but cant see what altitude i should be flying at
  14. Im only new to this, so it may of been covered before. How do i know what altitude to fly mission waypoints. I can navigate to them but i cant seem to find any information on what altitude i should fly to them at, or what altitude i should cross them at. Any help would be great-
