Cheers, that answers the question perfectly.
I'll double check by using a voltmeter on the pin to confirm.

Hi all,
Just got my basic hardware setup complete and run some tests to check some basics on the Arduino. I note that the arduino supports INPUT_PULLUP to use the internal resistors on the board. Does anyone know if DCS BIOS supports this somehow? I didn't see anything when scanning the documentation.
I have the resistors, just thought it was a little more elegant than having to plug them in to the circuit too.
Just beginning electronics, so please feel free to correct my thinking if necessary.
Cheers to all, and here's to the start of a new relationship with all you home cockpit builders.

Thank you all for your comments. Given the information above, it doesn't sound like it should be troublesome to use DCS BIOS for my project, and as such I can benefit from all the work that you have all put in to supporting this project.
Here's hoping that I'll be able to add to this community in the foreseeable future.
Regards,
David

Whilst the gesture is appreciated, it's not the point of the question ;)i do what i can to hold BIOS uptodate. ;)With regards to Blue73 response, if it's only a couple of updates a year, that's ok.
If I understand correctly, these are derived from the commands the developers use to control the sim, so I guess these basic function s shouldn't change much on complete modules (guess that's not the case for the F18 yet, due to still being in EA)

Hi all,
I'm looking to start building some generic panels that could interact with DCS BIOS.
My question is whether I plan to use DCS BIOS for the advanced functionality , or whether I just build some generic button boxes mapped via the standard and limited controls to reduce "tinker time". My main worry is whether the DCS BIOS commands/module regularly break with the updates from ED, or whether the system is more or less stable over long periods. I want to be able to play the sim, rather than reflash and reprogram commands due to each update made by ED.
So as a general question to all users out there, how have you found the system so far, and is there anything you do to manage it better?
Regards,
Dave

I dont see that reference for dcs 2.5 in the OP. Maybe I misunderstood, but that meant the level of detail in the textures.Yeah, a condition of earning above a certain amount was that he'd release textures for 2.5 as well. If he doesn't and he's still took the money, kinda a scumbag move. The quote, from the front page "When the amount of donations will reach 3000 $, I will release the T4 package under the same conditions."
He earned above the specified amount.

To redo the textures for 2.5 is not just a re-release, but a whole placement issue from the start. ED had to do a lot of work to keep the old missions working. I don't think it's a case of simply overlaying the textures on to the new mesh...

Hmm, not sure on that last point...
I just set up a mission last night for jtac with m2kc. I did basically the same thing, only setting the radio frequency to 135mhz and I did NOT set a laser code.
After learning to follow the conversation through to 'IN' and targeting the bomb ahead of the target to the sensor was finding the lase during the descent, I reran the mission at least 5 times with perfect hits each time...
This was on 2.5 main (not beta)

Sorry to maybe be a pain in the ass, but I would prefer the mentioned approach of a snippet generated from a full flight recording. The events we wish to review may not be part of the planned offensive and may be missed if we manually start and stop the recording.
In any case, I've loved using tacview since I found it and am very pleased with how you maintain it. Keep up the good work and thank you! :)

I've been using the mouse stick as buttons, using the stick without pinky for TAD slew, and with pinky up/down as airbrake, fwd/back as china. The only problem is that as soon as you need to use SST for anything, DCS 2.5 doesn't recognise the pinky button (#6) any more as a modifier, so that means I have most of the commands in DCS, and any pinky modified switches in SST. A bit of a bummer, but that's the best I found.
Otherwise it's to use the start/stop buttons just under the throttle, but I found those being a bit difficult to use, as I would need to look at the throttle to find them, therefore losing SA/target.
-
Yeah, after spending a whole 30 seconds looking at the buttons, changing the contrast to my desired level works very nicely. Thanks for that tip, wouldn't have thought of it myself. Then your only chance is the controls modeled in the A-10C itself. Try adjusting brightness and contrast with the switches on the MFCD, can also adjust symbology brightness... At least you can reduce the vibrance a little bit. That, and massively reducing the brightness has really improved the image output.
THANKS!

Yeah, I tried that a while back with no real results. It updated the gamma slightly and shifter the colours to a slightly colder temp, but nothing major. Was probably worthwhile to do it in any case, to start from a good reference point.Start Button, in Search Box type "Calibrate Display Color", Follow Instructions.I had the same problem with the overblown tad colours in 2.2 but spent most of my time in 1.5 so didn't really spend much time trying to correct it. As it doesn't seem to be a major issue on the forums, I'm placing a solid bet on my monitor setup so I'll have to spend some time with it and see if I get similar results as the OP.
Or just adjust to the new rendering and use it as an excuse to get a better monitor

I've noticed the tad in the a10c looks "strong" so I can't really read it clearly. Is this something that was resolved by your monitor tuning, or you don't fly this plane much / not your focus...

One thing you can do: to playback trk file in DCS World, this will record a new acmi file. Handy if you played on an online server which do not authorize telemetry export.
Wow, this is the top tip of the week. Didn't know it would do this!

Wow, that was a roller-coaster ride from start to finish..Well I'm ready..moved dcs 1.5.8 to an empty drive I cloned and also moved 2.2 there as well. Had to fix my boot record after I formatted the drive I cloned from and then edited registry. Repair and update worked and now both versions are on one drive so this will make it easy for tomorrow and the upcoming week when 2.2 gets moved over.Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

In line with the comment above re: a2g radar, it might be that they're waiting for 2.5 to be released for a unified dev platform to stop this back and forth between versions, and also for the f18 to come out so they can finally put this one to bed. Complete specture of course.I think the only major feature missing is the A/G mapping capability. the RDI was capable of it.Someone at some point even posted a cockpit Video of a Mirage 2000C a pilot switching to that mode. However obviously that wont come until ED finishes the F/A18C Air to Ground radar and release the Source code to the 3rd party developers like they said they will eventually.
Whilst M2000C priamriy role is ofc A2A, Ground mapping for a final completion is something i am looking forward to nonetheless.
Would still be nice to have a statement of intent to show what the plan is, and would also help to put a stop to the guessing and bickering and put a stop to any bad intent brewing on the forums. Can't complain once the official statement is out, unless the statement is misleading or false, which can only be proven after the fact...

I have to stop following this thread, my brain hurts.
This really isn't rocket science folks. Figure it out. Do the math!
+1 my man...

Lol, +1 to be honest. The information has been distributed and is relatively clear for most straight forward how to questions.. The rest will only really be answered once we get 2.5 anyway. It's not like they're going to quickly develop something now in the remaining few days from a question posted here...@USS_Rik,If I was you, I would lock this thread and clean up all the questions so far. 6 pages of "what if". By the time you make the installer available, you will most likely be at 30 pages.

My answer to that would be for supporting online play. Maybe virtual squadrons will hold back updating the servers to ensure everyone can still join and play, just not with the newest, shiniest toys in the play pen. They'll then update as time / requirements / ability to migrate team missions see fit.If u r that clear please answer a few queries of mine.1 - At stage 1..... 1.5.8 beta will be updated to 2.5 beta. But my question is why would someone have 1.5.8 beta version when 1.5.8 stable is out there? ....
2 - My assumption was that 2.5 will merge all version and wre will have one version that is 2.5. But if we opt not to un install 1.5.8 and 2.2 then does it mean that we will end up having three different versions?
3 - if 2.2 will be dead after 2.5, then why we will get option to keep 2.2 dead version ?

I use AirVPN.org which has a 1€ for three days access, otherwise I can't play online. As it's a paid subscription (albeit 1€), you have full service with no restrictions. If you have 1.5.8 Openbeta(!) this will be updated to 2.5 Openbeta. You will "replace" and "add" files in/to 1.5.8 Openbeta from 2.2 and download the remaining updates from the internet.Unfortunately 9GB is tough! As you would need space for at least the additional one or two map(s) from 2.2 (Nevada and Normandy) if you update 1.5.8 Openbeta.
Any chance to switch the provider and get a larger SSD?
Might be worth a look... I'm not sure on their torrent usage, but as it's a legitimate torrent and not pirate media, I would guess it's ok.

Same flickering experienced in 1.5.8. STABLE
Caucuses map, a10-c, weather set to standard spring thunderstorm. Intense flickering from the sky. Will check to see if related to the mirrors..

Might be in another thread but I haven't found anything concrete yet, but how is multi core support in 2.5? Is is still bound to one core or has the engine been upgraded to use the full cpu now, and does this mean the graphics card is being pushed more?

:( video not available for me... Either because you're all hitting it so hard youtube can't cope, or because I am in Switzerland? I WANNA SEE THE 60 FPS GLORY THAT IS... NEW CAUCASUS. please? :)Out now!Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk

Thanks Mirknir, for all you have done.
I've been following this thread for a long time, reading all your posts and describing your troubles. I was always amazed at how hard you worked for the others to be able to play on your server. I know actual business that have now downtime and less support than you did :)
I only managed to log on once, but was immediately impressed by the quality and depth of what you had done.
I hope you have some good personal time ahead and do what you enjoy. In my view, you've clearly earned it.
Et parce que vous avez demandez la command en français pour la mirage, je vous souhaitez une bonne fin journee. :)
Meilleurs vœux,
David

Do you find engine sound to low in the cockpit?
in M-2000
Posted
Do those mods still work/have been updated with the new sound files? I thought I heard recently that the sounds have been "encrypted" through an obscufated folder/filename structure?
If they still work, this looks like a mini treasure chest for those that like sound mods
