  1. Not sure where to post this; apologies if this is the wrong place: I'm looking for a group to fly with that is exclusively interested in the F-5E and maybe the F-4 when it is released. I see a few squads that operate the F-5 as a secondary aircraft but require qualification on something else first. I just don't have the time to learn all the systems on an A-10 and find dropping bombs with fixed sights and WVR AA combat more rewarding anyways. Any squads with these sensibilities out there?
  2. Suggestion/idea for the server: Not sure if it's possible or not, but it might be interesting to have a handful of strategic targets to strike. Factories, bridges, etc. CAS is not the F-5s strong suit (especially without a FAC firing target marking rockets.....hmmmm) and some static strike targets might make for some interesting missions. As an incentive, enemy aircraft could be removed and/or friendly added for each successful strike. Also, when choosing locations for the next mission, keep in mind each aircrafts navigational capabilities. Not that Sochi is all that hard to find, but TACAN equipped fields could make some lower wx scenarios possible for the F-5 bubbas. None of this is meant as a critique of the current state of the server, which is great. Just throwing some ideas out there.
  3. Ok, so I've been on the server a couple of times now and it's an absolute blast. Big thanks to the guys at ACG for hosting this. As a newb, I fully expect to have my ass handed to me by the MiGs on a regular basis, as happened on my way to RTB yesterday afternoon. News flash: flying straight and level can be hazardous to your health! I've managed to get SRS up and running, as confirmed on another server, but have had no luck with coms here. Is there a list of freqs somewhere? Are people typically using the SRS plug in, Teamspeak, or simply just communicating over chat? Also, are there typically human GCI controllers, or are we simply contacting AI? GCI sure would've helped me avoid getting schwacked yesterday afternoon! :) TIA for any answers, and once again, a big thanks for those who are designing the missions/hosting the server! PS: If there are any groups/individuals that fly the F-5 and are looking for a wingman to fly/train with, let me know. I do have RW experience. It's all in heavies but I'd be happy to pass on formation/pattern/ATC procedures etc. Just don't expect me to know anything about BFM.
  4. Hi all. Totally new to the DCS multiplayer thing so please bear with me: I'd like to jump in with this server as I am most comfortable with the F-5E and like the matchup against the MiG 21. I'd really like to have some comms up while playing, and I see from the ACG site that they have a pretty robust Teamspeak organization set up. I also saw on the forums over there that they've set up this server with Simple Radio, which I don't have installed. Which one is actually used?
  5. I recently had this issue as well and remembered this forum. I was getting to about 16 - 17 thousand with the blower in high, about 61" MP and couldn't continue to climb. I took at look at the airplane in the external view and noticed that the gear was fully retracted but the doors were missing. You wouldn't think that would make such a drastic difference in service ceiling but I restarted the mission and sure enough was able to climb to 35,000 with no issues. I'm not sure how I lost the doors. Perhaps I waited too long to retract, although in my mind's eye, I raised the gear at positive rate. Perhaps there is a bug in the mission if so many are having this issue. In any case, if you are having trouble getting above 20,000, this could be the issue.
  6. EXCUSES, EXCUSES I need this HOTAS because I keep having my posterior handed to me by human and AI opponents alike and my (lame) excuse is that I'd be killing enemies by the bushel if only I had a decent stick because I obviously AM a great stick! :megalol: Putting this control setup in my hands will either make me the greatest online fighter jock ever, or (far more likely) force the humility that I so richly deserve upon me. Either way: win.
