  1. Here's one for anyone looking for a different look in Blackshark.

This mod changes the day time sky colour from the standard blue to a nice

overcast grey, giving the game a more realistic and subdued look.

    Does not affect performance.

    Use Modman to install.

Thanks go to Antonio Gatti for his work on the original Skycolor Mod for FC.

    Enjoy,

  2. Wasn't the game designed in such a way as to allow for these mods? I mean, files could have been locked out by the designers, but the choice was made somewhere along the way to allow the game to be modded by the community and I for one, am glad they did. I think it's a great way to add some freshness to the game and to keep people interested in it, and I would bet that the majority of serious players are using a mod in one form or another. I know that I check here regularly to see what new mods have been uploaded and really appreciate it when people take the time to share with the community. It just seemed a little rude to criticize someone for attempting to improve the game in their own way and share their work, especially from a moderator.

  3. Thank you very much Frazer!

I have waited for a proper explanation for the graphics settings

(especially the "scene" settings) for a very long time. Now I can

modify these with a good idea of what I'm looking for in-game.

It must have taken you a very long time to determine what these

settings do and your efforts are much appreciated!

    Thanks again.

  4. My attempt at creating a more true to life representation of the 2A42 cannon

both inside and outside of the cockpit.

Replaces default with new, more realistic Ka-50 gun sound effect.

Works well with bass shaker system.

    Install with Modman.

    Enjoy,

  5. Hi to all,

I purchased BS a year ago and have enjoyed it (though hardly MASTERED it) since.

But I always come back to fast movers. Mainly Falcon, currently OF 4.7 but soon perhaps a replacement in the wings.

Eagerly awaiting the A-10, HARDCORE all the way, baby!

I await a new thong thread!

  6. This mod replaces the default windows in the Black Shark with ones

that have all the tinting removed. There is also a little grime placed in

    the corners for realism.

It was designed to remove the unnessesary colour bias when looking

through the default cockpit glass texture to give a clearer look outside

but still retain the impression of looking through a glass pane.

    Modman compatable.

    Enjoy,

    luke88

  7. This is a great discussion and I'm glad somebody came out and said this because its something thats been on my my for a while as well.

To me Black Shark is a brilliant start to what can potentially be THE defining game in the genre (although admittedly, there is not much else out there right now). But it does fall short in a few critical respects that have been brought up in this thread. I think ED has has gotten the priority correct though, in that they concentrated on creating the high fidelity aircraft first. Without that, the rest would be garbage.

I imagine that there have been many discussions in back room meetings as to which direction to take take the simulator next to satisfy the greater market and remain true to their vision. I don't envy the role of a game developer in this regard, considering there are many fans out there waiting with baited breath on ED's next move.

So far, I am happy with the way DCS has unfolded, and any project this ambitious takes time. I just hope ED reads threads like this and gets it right again.
