Well, as I posted earlier, they have a contract with 1C for distribution of the game, so it is no longer entirely their choice. And it's a bad habit of most resellers that they don't talk much about their ideas.
They hope we will get it this week, so let's hope for that, too.

I will admit, I'm probably one of the moe impatient forum members and yes there is another thread asking for an update that I started.
I can actually agree with every post in this thread both requesting more information AND the calls for patience.
However, all I think people want to know is some more information
"it will be ready when its ready" is perfectly understandable when software is in early development...just pop over to FO forum...plenty of those posts there.
I do not believe that is really an acceptable answer when the software has been released and being used, albeit in another country.
I'm not software programmer but surely the developers have an estimated timeline to do whatever work needs to be done to make the D/L version available.
Maybe the development team have completed their work and the decision rests with 1C?....if thats the case, fine, just say so!
I feel pretty sure the dev team and 1C must have lines of communication between them...so some offical view of when they plan to make it available doesnt seem to me to be unreasonable, whoever its from (Dev team or Distributors)
I think some on here are confussing the perception that we are banging our hands on the table saying ~"give me the software now".......which I'm certainly not
with respectful requests for a little more information of when its likely to arrive (which is subject to change of course!)
Even if the offical release stated "We expect to make the D/L available on Oct 22nd,
I for one would be satisfied that I had something more tangable to look forward too
(although of course I do want it sooner than that!!!....lol)
And they would tell you gladly, if they could.

Well, you do need the table and the chair, PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse, HOTAS, TrackIR, Rudder pedals... beer, phone, and the toilet.
;)
LOL.
You also forgot the wife for cooking and beer-resuplying. :smilewink:

+1 Urze
Couldn't agree more!
I used the Cougar internals and the stick on a lengthened connector with the mechanics of a CH-Fighterstick with the pots of an X45 for a long time, now. The best from each world, if you want. It always takes 10 minutes to switch chairs and set up for flight, as I normally work on my PC, but it's a completely different thing than just putting a stick up on the desk.
It may look odd, but it's really fun to fly with and the stick-extension not only greatly adds to immersion, but it also get's you much closer to the real thing, as you can control in put extremely precise.
The point is: You won't get a perfect stick from the hardware-shop and you can buy whatever you want, you will run into problems and lacks sooner or later. It's up to you, to overcome them with creativity or to be satisfied accepting the downsides.
@Ghost:
I made a setup that defines all pots to device1. When I load the setup it asks me for an automatic driver installation. As this is not the case with direct mode and with other setups, the CM keeps asking me to confirm new drivers each time I load the setup. Same is for travelling with my PC and Flightgear, which I do a lot. With both, the X52 and the Cougar each time I plug the stick into the original port, it just says that the drivers are updated. With the CH I had to confirm for each part of the driver.
Yes, maybe it's faulty, but I read similar comments on other forums, too.
The sluggishness is not directly connected to the pots. It has a lot more center play than my unmodded Cougar, for example. I doubt this is covered by the warranty?

I've been reading reviews and whatnot and the Cougars faults + price ruled it out.
Don't underestimate the Cougar. Many people complain, because they expect a lot more for the money, but let's be honest, there is no such thing as a perfect stick, unless you buy a truly expensive replica or know how to build a custom stick. Other people just want to point out and justify why the bought an Uber2 mod with HAL-Sensors.
And compared to the CH Products, hey, the pots are easier to clean, but they wear down, too.
What I personally didn't like on my CH-setup was the way the USB-hardware is set up. Depending on the programming it demands to reinstall drivers each time you load them up and I had to calibrate my stick each time before I started a game. The older stick, gameport, with the ability to permament store programming onboard was a lot easier to use IMHO. :( Besides that, my new (1year old) USB-Fighterstick feels more worn-out than my 14 year old Gameport-Fighterstick. Maybe a monday-product, too, but maybe worth mentioning.
PS: Besides that the CH-Setup is a lot more expensive than the cougar. ;) - At least in Germany you can almost buy 2 Cougars for the price of one CH-HOTAS.

Wow.
:surprise:
Are these unmodified shots, Boberro?

You should also understand that this thing is not entirely in ED's hand at the moment, as they have a contract with 1C. That is also why there is so little information at the moment - quite frankly: They probably don't know for sure either.
So, let's all calm down, as hard as it seems, have a little patience and understanding. It makes waiting better for all of us, including ED and the moderators here.

Hi everyone!
Anyone have any feedback about CH?
Seems like everyone likes the x52 but im not convinced yet..
IMHO Thrustmaster Cougar and CH Fighterstick + Pro Throttle are the kings of the hotas.
CH may look a little sluggish, with it's all plastic-design, but it is one of the most durable piece of hardware I ever had. Very well designed and thought through. The programming software is as excellent as the Cougars, though IMHO the later offers a few more options with more workload.
The real disadvantages of the CH-setup are the relatively large stick - you really have to be either a gorilla or put the joystick in a lower position to reach all keys without moving your hand away too much and the lack of rotaries. It has a good and precise minimouse-stick, but only one additional rotary on the base of the stick - that's it. Compared to the X52s 3 axis + twist stick, this is a bit weak IMHO.
You can check out the "Frankenpotatoe"-Mod, though, if you are interested in CH-Products. I also recommend to pay http://www.ch-hangar.com a visit. It's more or less becoming the official forum ;)

It's not a vintage fighter, it's a modern aerobatic aircraft :smilewink:
Did I say it's a vintage fighter? :wassat:
It's in the game to test the new flight-physics. A bonus and a gift to the many virtual aerobatics teams. :smilewink:

Wait for Storm of War: Battle of Britain. :smilewink:

IF you had read the earlier thread on the subject of how to make the russian version into an english version , you would understand....simply put the english stuff is 'internal' in the game, while the russian version actually uses 'external' files for all text in the game.
Let's state it that way:
Some options like the metric and imperial system, for example are part of the game, thus are in the game from the beginning.
Then, there were non CIS-Betatesters from the very beginning, so there probably was the necessity to give an international access to all main aspects of the game.
This is more or less a backdoor, though, not the official way, nor the official supported way, so it may not be openly discussed here any further than that.
Besides that, it's probably obvious, that these main-aspects most probable don't include mission description, trainings and videos, etc. Just the basics as main menus and AFAIK English tooltips.

If you don't want to read or swap through written pages, just hit the paper-clip-symbol of the thread. It gives you direct access to the attachments. :smilewink:

Looking forward to see how long it takes for me to get something burning myself, that was not originally a part of my helo. :D

I have spikes in the horizontal rotary knob on my X-52. I got it after about 2 years, though I never used it that much.
Actually some X52s have these problems from the very start!
BTW, have you installed the precision mod for X52s? Especially for IL2 this was a huge improvement over the original sensor-settings.
Anyway, let's face it: You can run a piece of hardware or software for years without a problem and you can have a monday morning product, which fails on 1st try. You just can't make up a general rule from either.
-
Because there's secret information contained. Just think about Boberro had his pilot named "HotPants" still visible in the screenshot.
Just kidding. :smilewink:
Many thanks for your screenshots, mate. They're really awesome!
-
... and a joke about it. ;)
-
That's true. You can be lucky with the pots, but it's more likely you will be one of many. I run my Cougar with my old X45-potis. Much easier to clean and very precise!

Do a google search - pirates somali - it is a real current problem
Okay, let me make my last statement more clear:
Question is, if they intended the HMG for self-defense or for SINKING tankers.
Don't ge me wrong, the boat is a great idea, but you didn't convince me, yet, that these boats were put into the game to fire at a tanker for 10 minutes to get it burning. Pirates either do quick raids or they hijack the ship. They may even sink the boat after their raids, but I never read a report of a supertanker being sunk by HMG fire from pirates. :wassat:

I just read in a Russian forum about problems with BlackShark regarding TrackIR and "Striped Mountains". I had to interpret a lot into it, but knowing about the TrackIR-problems I sometimes had with LockOn, I wonder if this is still there? And the striped mountains probably are the shaders flickering, right? I guess it will take the new engine to get completely rid of it?
-
Obviously people who know what terrorists use wanted a HMG on that speedboat ;)
True! Question is, if they intended the HMG for self-defense or for attacking tankers. :D
-
It could be, but it would not be realistic. In real life you have to put a lot of rounds into a ship to start it burning.
Not if you are a suicide bomber.
And AFAIK most terrorists, who attack a tanker won't use a HMG. :smilewink:
-
Sorry, for certain technical reasons, speedboats can not operate on rivers. However, you can still create interesting missions. I have a test mission where insurgents are moving to attack a tanker in port from land and sea (hugging the coast). Mission is to identify the most immediate and greatest threat, and send your armed wingman to neutralise it in time. The HMG on the speedboat can set a tanker on fire, but it takes time, about 10 minutes.
Couldn't this be done by triggers? Like Boat xy arrives within 50m of tanker = bang?

Are we downloading soon?

Nope.
1. We will first formation-crash
2. We will wait for the release-date of the second DCS-Module
