...like OutTerra, but filled up with satellite imaging.

Very Nice!. My wish was granted. This will be my Christmas present. :pilotfly: I can finally hit the shop for the rest of the aircrafts, knowing that at last we are venturing beyond the Dead Sea. If the map is near 400 km wide, that means we can fly from one end to the other in... half an hour or less on full AB? Hopefully the map will keep growing. Or future theaters are made bigger to allow for at least a couple of hours flight.

..with Tile Proxy.

I am dying to fly over sand dunes, anywhere in the Middle east. Don't care. Get me out of the Black sea. Normandy is for WWII isn't it?.
-
With new ways of getting finance like Kickstarter, third party devs and whatever else, I just hope we don't have to wait another 5 years to see a different theater, i.e. the middle east. It's been too long with the same black sea region and I am tired of taxing on Russian runways. (yeah, I know we have carriers too).

5 years since this post was created and still no new theater. I lost hope in seeing anything other than the new Nevada. If it's ever released.

Finally! At last an american chopper to fly! I can't wait to start.

Awesome video. Makes carrier ops look so glamorous and cool

 damn. I thought that was a good card. What can I do , what card can you recommend that doesn't cost a kidney?

I recently bought a new laptop. These are the pecs: Asus N53SN-S1208V Display: 15.6" FHD. Use a secondary Liyama display CPU Intel COre I7-2630QM Storage: 750GB 7200 RPM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M, 2 GB Memory: 8GB OS: 64bit windows 7 Home Premium I reinstalled the DCS A10 this morning, which means I downloaded the latest patch 1.1.1.0 and to my horror, the sim runs like a slideshow on high settings. Not even the maximum. Also, half of the plane goes semitransparent when I zoom a little in. To top it up, takes a long time to start. What's wrong? It is a showtopper for me. I can't fly under those conditions and I wonder what is wrong . Is it my card? Is it the software? What is it? I'll upload some pics later.

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List

For sure it will be the F-18 Super Hornet. They already said that judging by the poll, a lot of people will be pleased with the next release. So it has to be the bug. -
That's the one, thanks!

Am I seeing things? I thought there was a development progress thread which they updated weekly, with pics of the nevada theater progress. Is it somewehere around here?

My fave bird is the F16. But I would vote for the Hornet, just because it NEEDS to come with carrier ops and a new theater. Also I would love to see the AC-130U "Spooky" after that. It would be awesome to fly that beast, shoot ground targets, transport troops, equipment etc. and make the angel flare when you're about to land or takeoff. It's fun to me, and it's a diffferent aircraft from all the previous releases. -
wow! All this on FC2? I'm missing a lot. My DCS A10-C doesn't run smoothly anyways, so I'm going to try this baby until Nevada arrives or I buy a better macine to run it. Great job guys.

I wonder which Military Sim is using this or planning to use it. http://outerra.blogspot.com/ or this:

Satellite imagery is specially stunning on deserts. It doesn't feel like a picture. The Nevada theater has nice use of it. Shame it's just a finite square.

I love this sim because of it's realistic avionics, damage model, awesome scenery and I get to blow stuff up. A-10 has everything I can hope for. And the terrain mesh is an improvement from previous series. But the textures.... I know they have done a great job and improved the textures and tiles. But in the 2nd decade of the 21st century, shouldn't sims start thinking of using satellite imagery? Why not? Is it the cost? The system performance? The ammount of man hours needed? Is it impossible today? (so why can we fly tileproxy on FSX) Or is this merely a modders job. I was hoping A-10 would showcase all around the dead sea terrain, even go into Iran. But I am fine as it is. The Caucasus scenery is really breathtaking in real life. But in the future, what are the chances of flying something close to the real thing? (without using tileproxy) Here are examples of the caucasus, the top is Google earth and the bottom DCS A-10. I even had to increase the contrast of the bottom image to make it look better. Uploaded with ImageShack.us I wish one day we can fly on scenery taken from satellite and modified tiles to trick the eye into thinking it's a seamless scenery. Is this achievable in the short term? Are we getting close to total reality?

Don't tell me there's less documentation from the F14 than from the Hog. It's a retired bird only flown by only one other country outside the US if I know correctly. The tomcat is sexy :gun_smilie: The Bug is cool but there are quite a few flying models out there in the sim market. -

Makes sense. And it will narrow the chances to 1 or 2. But the world of speculation is so wonderful. -

My vote goes to either the Blackhawk (UH-60) in all it's variants (check this ALX Arpia III http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?139053-Combat-helicopters/page3) or an A-A multirole jet, prefferably with carrier ops for more variety, like an F18 or F14 for old time's sake and because there's more than enough documentation about it; if as an RAF pilot said, the F-35 could be the last amnned aircraft ever to be built, what are we the simmers going to fly in the far future?. The su-30 can do too. -
Nice. That'll be the first option I turn off. By the way...any easter eggs? Me likes to use Hugo Chavez's face as target practice :gun_smilie:

Man you just derailed the whole thing! those videos are hillarious! :megalol:
