  1. CPU and Memory
  2. kksnowbear, can you pm me for cpu-z download/install help?
  3. How do I determine which Ryzen 7 CPU model I have installed to determine how extensive of an upgrade I need to do? If I don't use VR but TrackIR instead would such an extensive upgrade still be needed? Thanks kksnowbear!
  4. Hi, I would like a recommendation and/or trouble shooting advice. I'm not new to flight simulators nor am I new to DCS. Having said that, I've purchased every US aircraft, planes and helicopters, and many terrains such as the Nevada Test Range, Marianas, and several others. I've yet to complete a single mission, in fact I doubt if I have 1 hour total flying time. My first issue was getting my controls to work. I solved that with new hardware. I recently purchased a VR headset, Meta Quest 3, hoping to have an easier way to look around the cockpit and outside than using the keyboard or hat controller. I previously tried TrackIR 5 with the ball cap set up, tried it, liked it until I got "airsick"! My VR set up, using the wire link, takes forever to load a scenario/mission, then when it does instead of being "in the cockpit" I'm sitting way above the plane and have to look down through the canopy to barely see the controls much less read any instruments. Plus I'm think it's latency, but looking around is very, very jumpy with a lot of lag. Trying to use my hands on the various knobs, switches and controls does not work at all. I thought it was a setting and/or setup issue, but I've tried many suggestions, YouTube tutorials and even set all the graphics settings to their lowest settings. I'm running the latest 2.9 DCS World version, but I don't have a SSLA option listed in my VR settings in the sim. Now I think my problem is my graphics card, all this but WORSE operation in Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane 12 sims. Here are my computer specs. AMD Ryzen 7 8 core 3.70GHz CPU, 16 GB RAM, 64 bit Windows 10 Pro OS, msi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, 3 monitors (but DCS only works on the center one), Thrustmaster Warthog Control with HOTAS throttle and A10, F18 and F16 handles, Thrustmaster rudder pedals, Thrustmaster Cougar MFD display panels (2), and both Meta Quest 3 VR and TrackIR 5 with new TrackClip Pro. (TrackIR works much better than the ball cap clip, but having double getting the view centered, it looks slightly to the right when my head is looking forward!) I'm retired Fire Service, (Chief), and currently part of the Department of Defense, US Army, Joint Service Honors Command performing military honors for deceased veterans. Would installing a newer higher power graphics card work with my CPU and hardware setup to alive my frustrations with latency using the VR headset? Without VR I'm able to set graphics to high levels and have no latency issues, with VR I get extremely poor performance and the issue of sitting "on top the canopy"! I'm on a fixed income and didn't want to pay for a RTX 4090. I will if it will solve my problems, but if a cheaper one will work for me that would be better. Also as soon as I can afford it I want to replace my 3 monitor setup to a single big screen curved monitor but I can't afford both graphics card (4090) and monitor right now. Can anyone offer any suggestions, setup tips/solutions, or any other advice so I can actually get to fly this amazing flight simulator and MSFS and X-Plane? Thanks for any help I can get!
  5. THANKS ALL! You've all given me some great advice and places to start. I'm partial to US Navy Aircraft so I need to look at the manuals for the F18, F14 and F5 and decide which one makes more sense to me. I've tried a few tutorials, but all have been cold starts and I've had some trouble "seeing" some of the controls that require some interaction in order to move forward in the tutorial. Mainly I don't quite know all the controls to look around the cockpit adequately. Will Track IR help with that? I have it, it's just not connected and set up in DCS. Also, I've noticed that some of my controls need to have their axis' "reversed", how do I do that from within the game? I can't seem to find that option in the controller set up. For instance, my left/right wheel brakes are on when I'm not pressing the toes on the pedals. I have to press the toes down to release the brakes. OR when I fly a helicopter how do I reverse the throttle axis so it acts as a collective not a throttle? Finally, I see in the DCS controls set screen the "Load Profile" tab. But I don't see any profiles. I loaded everything in DCS using the default locations/Folders. Where are the profiles stored by default so I can browse to them. Same with "downloading" a profile, where should it be downloaded to so I can find it in the load profile tab? Tim
  6. Hi All, I'm sure this has been covered before but I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me get started! I'm not an inexperienced flight sim pilot, I've been flying since the first Microsoft Flight Simulator was released. I used to fly ALL the Janes Simulators, Microsoft Combat Sims, ALL versions of the MSFS up to the latest 2020, X-Plane 10,11, and 12, and many others. I'm not new to DCS either BUT I've never been able to get off the ground, ever! I've had DCS for almost all 15 years and I own ALL the US aircraft except the newest F15E not yet released. I have the Super Carrier, Persian Gulf, Nevada, Normandy and Combined Arms terrains as well as the GPS add-on. Several Campaigns. I'm no where ready for ANYTHING in DCS but learning to fly these complex aircraft with WORKING controls. I think I can now but I need some help. 1. Which Plane or helicopter is the easiest to learn on and has the easiest training program among the aircraft I own? I know the Averojet is used as a jet trainer, (and I have the P-51default trainer), but I don't own that one. Should I purchase it to learn on or is one I already own better to learn on? 2. I have NEVER been able to get my rudder pedals to work therefore I could never take off or land. Making a long story short, I ditched my Saitek Cessna pedals, replaced them with Thrustmaster pedals, (not the TPR ones, the basic ones), and now I have control on the ground!!! Since I now have controls that work, Ihave brand new Thrustmaster HOTAS A10 Warthog joystick and throttle with panel, pedals, and 2 Cougar MFD panels. I also have the interchangeable Cougar F-16 handle. If I can get these all working, I'm going to get the F-18 Handle for xmas. 3. My Computer is brand new, AMD processor with 9 cores, 16 GB RAM, 2-HDs each 1 TB, GeoForce graphics card, (new card with lots of memory and processing speed that I can use highest graphics without latency, a Sim Chair system with 3 27" LCD Monitors, surround sound, and Track IR system not yet installed. My questions are: Which plane should I start with? Is there a Basic Generic Profile for my Thrustmaster system or a profile for the plane recommended that I can download AND HOW do I load that program to be able to use it. I've not learned how to use the TARGET software for the Thrustmaster controls and have no idea how to program it OR load a profile that will work in DCS. I REALLY JUST WANT TO FLY!!! Single player for now since I've got a lot to learn. I REALLY just need some very simple instructions to get me up and having fun as I learn all these complicated systems including programming my controls without spending ALL my time reading all these hard to understand manual. I WILL read them, but I want to have fun with my huge investment while I'm doing it! Can anyone make some recommendations and provide some simple instructions so I can get started using all this beautiful software and hardware? PLEASE? Tim
  7. THANK YOU VERY,VERY much! You're a "SAINT"
  8. I have 3 monitors, but I like using the 1 monitor setting the best. It's full screen in the center monitor and it suits my preferences just fine. I tried to "try" the stting that shows the center monitor as the cockpit picture and the Left and right monitors to show the L/R Multi panel displays. I didn't like the setting and want to go back to the 1 monitor display. MT BIG PROBLEM is that the center display is so narrow that I can change the display the "main menu" on the center monitor as before, but the display is so narrow that the "OK" button is no longer visible to select and return it back to the display I want. HOW can I return my display back to as it was before I messed it up? PLEASE help , I'm in "panic" mode now!
  9. I’m currently using a Saitek X55 joystick/throttle (pre Logitech merge) and having lots of issues. The most common is erratic joystick movement even without touching the stick. I’ve tried all the suggestions/calibrations recommended on this forum without any positive results. It seems like this model has been an issue not just with this sim but others I use as well. What are others using with good results? I want something that is simple and doesn’t want another college degree to learn to use! I want some realism but willing to sacrifice that for ease of use. I have a cockpit set up with 3 screens and a pilot seat for the flight “feel”. I’m using Windows 10, Nvidia graphics card with lots of Ram, AMD processor with many cores and lightening processing speed, lots of computer RAM, FSX, X Plane 10 and DCS with many purchased planes and terrains. What joystick combo will give be the best simulation? Thanks, Tim
  10. I'm a real newbie to this simulator but not new to flight simulation. I have several planes I purchased as well as terrains but I've yet to be able to functionally use them. My joystick makes rapid erratic left/right stick movement when not touching the joystick. I can fly and use the joystick, but even when holding it still or moving is the plane keeps trying to pitch do to this erratic movement. The throttle moves smoothly, but once advanced it will not move back to idle, it moves back but only about 1/3 to 1/2 throttle, not to idle. I have the latest DCS World, as I said several planes, (all of the US planes I think), running Window 10, and using the X55. Is it the joystick? The program recognizes it, but it doesn't function as needed, I haven't even tried any advanced features, just pitch, Roll, throttle, and Saiteck pedals. The pedals seem to work correctly except the toe brakes are not working. Does anyone else have these problems? Does anyone have any suggestions? New Joystick? Any help is appreciated, I want to fly this sim! Thanks, Tim
  11. I've had DCS for many years now. It has never worked as promised. I've tried all methods of support and got the same suggestions in which NONE worked. I've purchased several planes, campaigns and terrain. Nothing works. Even my controls do not work. PLEASE, someone help me remove EVERYTHING from my system and help me re-install so HOPEFULLY I can start fresh with a working DCS system?
  12. I'm fairly new to DCS world, but I've got both 1.5 and 2.0 installed as well as several modules and a couple campaigns. I'm using a high end system with Saitek X-55 throttle and flight stick along with Saitek Flight Pro Cessna pedals. They work with all my other flight sims, but my rudder pedals are not working at all. When I go to settings DCS sees and recognizes the pedals, and I've cleared everything from them and assigned the rudder axis to JOY_RZ, and the toe brakes to the x & Y axis'. There are no other assignments to the pedals. The I start the sim, everything works but the pedals, neither the rudder or brakes. I've tried reassignment many times but I'm having no luck. Am I missing something or is there a fix for this issue? I'd really like fly using the pedals but I'm getting no where with this sim fast and I've had it for about 2 years now, with the most recent updates. Help? Tim
