Same here. Sat in dozens of Viper cockpits and the MFD's are far better to read (and seem bigger) than in DCS. Based on my own experience, i think you're sitting to far back in the seat in DCS, due to the incline seat modeling. In RL, the UFC is almost in you face and i really dont have that feeling in DCS. It's just to far away

To me, the DCS Viper feels like a RL Eagle pit, open and spacious. The real Viper pit like you have experienced isn't portrayed very well here.

Oh and to remain on topic, yeah the MFDs also seem small, and no where near as bright as they should be.

Isn't Target known to cause conflicts with DCS? I've always avoided it after hearing reports of issues with it.

It isn't so much DCS, but how Windows handled the combined devices. It would combined them, but also leave individual controllers as well. So DCS would see the device twice, and create duplicate commands, etc.

So, in your professional opinion does it seem right that a multi-million dollar tactical fighter jet which was heralded as the pinnacle of man machine interface ergonomic design and is sought after the world over by NATO nations... That said airframe would not allow the pilot to see the front 45 degree azimuth of the outer threat circle on the RWR display from a natural seating position without having to become an amateur contortionist?

I'll go sit in the jet on Tuesday again, just to make sure something didn't change between the last several hundreds of jets I was in. Images are pretty accurate as well.

The obvious benefit of removing the umbilicle connectors from the pylons earmarked for carrying gas bags provided cost saving and ease of maintenance. But from a purist point of view what I believe should be implemented is how the airframe and components come from the OEM.

Not local cost saving initiatives that didn't affect operational capability anyways because the common loadout is 2x gas bags on stations 4 and 6.

I believe that it would be best to solve this by allowing mission designers and/or server admins to allow or restrict the loadouts as they see fit.

The 370 gallon external fuel tank pylon is an assembly and only used for fuel tanks on the USAF Vipers. There is no swapping out an umbilicals “so it can carry weapons”. It is not capable of housing a mau-12 to hold weapons. The fuel tank pylon assembly goes up as a pair, comes down as a pair, jettisoned as a pair.

The Master Arm is on by default in the training module. I did check it. What I am not seeing is on the DLZ the max and min missile range "box".  It is squeezed to the bottom.

one question I have, do you have to fire immediately or can you wait and follow the target to fire?

The ENABLE switch - depress is mapped to JOY_BTN2 on the joystick.

Still can't get a missile to fire

Cursor Enable isn’t the Weapons Release button. You need Weapons Release (may say Pickle, not at PC can’t verify actual name) in order to release missiles and AG stores on the Viper.

Unlike the Hornet which uses the trigger for AA and Gun.

  6. Where did the ability go that would auto switch without needing to say “Switch” to relay to SRS if no Game AI units were on radio?

Under MP I have three options Broadcast Parallel (dislike because human wingman hear the call), TX Link (disliked the double click requirement), and Dynamic Switch (forced to say switch to talk via srs always).

I currently have it set as dynamic switch but it doesn’t really dynamically work. I’m forced to say switch every time I open the mic just to talk via SRS.

Sorry if this should be different topic, it started with the Listening Suspended fix I believe and seems linked in a way.

This has really changed the way I can use Vaicom and SRS, and honestly wish the previous method was still available. Any insight will be helpful.

I fly with the TWCS throttle and it tends to drift, so putting in a dead zone is a must.  You can check this by looking at your regular radar and if the cursor tends to move, it's your throttle.

Except in my case the FCR (& 65s) cursor wasn't drifting. Only time a drift occurred was in when TGP went SOI. Took me several days of trying to solve it. Definitely didn't present itself as a cursor drift issue as only TGP drifted.

    SOLUTION - UH-1h           Partial Spit and P-51D

Was able to get single player working for single PTT to initiate the radio transmission.  Now, need help to find out why ATC does not respond for WW II AC; even with menus and VA not running!!!

The key was understanding just what the RLY led was indicating.  So I read the manual.  Was a Multiplayer indicator even though running a single player game.

Counter intuitively (at least to me) is that [Use with Multiplayer] must be checked.  Nothing else on this page.  VOIP Control at default of [Broadcast Parallel].

Once made this change UH-1h worked perfectly to send and receive ATC both radios.  For the Spitfire and P-51D, the message sends but ATC never responds.

This setting would also explain why those who fly multiplayer did not have an issue with single player comms.

I fly mostly in MP with some SP and have issues. So it isn't tied to the MP variable.

@=Panther=Do you have an Interphone (TX5) switch mapped? If so, does that talk to the ground crew without the suspended issue?

I do not have it mapped, I have never had more than 3 (TX) mapped. Guess that is something I would need to re-consider, maybe a command to open intercom and hold (not sure if possible) definitely gives me something to think about.

  9. Experiencing the Listening Suspended as well. I noticed that VAICOM stops listening immediately and goes into RLY mode if the in game radio isn't tuned to a frequency with units (aka ATC, Tanker, etc), regardless if SRS is running or not. If I have radios tuned to a frequency with units it works with no issues. My hurdle at the moment is there will be no more talking with ground crew until power is on the aircraft via VA/VAICOM unless using the keyboard menus...yuck.

I'm using MP / VOIP Control / Dynamic Switching, tried the TX Link with and without MP Only, and I didn't like the double tapping requirement.

  10. So the thread title, most advance users would read title and say update your AIRIO plugin by the manual. That's what I thought as well, except I have done that. Along with going to the Editor/Finish and following the instructions. So what am I missing? Short of a nuclear action.

I have the Pro Version and then the following: Chatter Theme, AIRIO, Realistic ATC, Interactive Kneeboard. Updated VAICOM and VoiceAttack this week for latest versions.

My directories are correct, no strays of dcs in SG or Installation.

The physical switch I use on my throttle is a 3 way switch that automatically centers in the middle (to clarify: not a axis but a 3 way switch). So in the way I set up my controls in DCS, if I hold the switch aft (or what ever position you call it) the speedbrake in the game will extend, but whenever I stop holding it and the switch recenters, the speedbrake will stop extending and hold what ever degree it stopped at (if not fully extended). If I press fwd on my switch the speedbrake in game will close (I don't have to hold it fwd). So I guess my control setup is the same as how it works in real life according to your description?

Yes aft (outboard) is spring-loaded to off (center) and the forward (inboard) has a detent keeping it in closed (not spring-loaded to center).

Identical design to the Warthog, Cougar, at Winwing throttles, possible others but those are my limit with experience.

Thx for the input guys. Unfortunately, in DCS, our F-16's speedbrake works kind of weird. If you had your speedbrake fully extended before putting down the gear, the speedbrake will retract to I believe 43 degrees, which I think it's how it should work right? However, if you hold the switch aft and release the switch, the board extends fully and stays that way, it does not go back to 43 degrees. Also, if you extend the speedbrake after putting the gear down, the board can actually extends fully and also stays that way. Is this wrong? (I believe it is)

During touch down, with the fully extended board, if you hold the green donut (13 degrees) for aerobraking, you can actually see the speedbrake touches the ground in the external view. Although it does not result in any damage in the game, it does look awfully wrong. The weird thing is, after rear wheel touches the ground for a while, the board will then self retract to the 43 degree, but why would the FCS allow it to be extended fully without holding the the switch all the way before?

So based on your description, the way the speedbrakes works in real life makes total sense, but in DCS, I guess there is something wrong with it.

Do you have a track of this behavior? That is not the experience I see with the speedbrakes, but you're not the first person to say they have experienced it.

Gear down and locked, the speedbrakes will open fully if switch is held but will retard to 43° when switch is released. If speedbrakes are opened fully before the gear is down and locked, they will retard to 43° once the gear is down and locked. If gear is up the speedbrakes will remain at their extended state at the time the switch is released. This could be fully open, partial, or anywhere in between. If the gear is down and locked, and the speedbrake switch is held to open, the speedbrakes will remain in their fully open state. Once the NLG compresses, the 43° limit is gone, and opening the speedbrake fully can be commanded without holding the switch.

Now I would love to have @=Panther= 's view on if they ever and when/why the would raise/changed the seat position while flying.

Don't think they do ever, but I stay on the ground don't get to see everything. When I had the opportunity to ride in the back, none of my pilots changed their seat position. Additionally I was instructed to use a fist to find my sweet spot. Ball the fist, place it on top of the helmet and raise the seat until my fist touched canopy.
