  1. As said, any Airports or navigation beacons are read from the map files, so you can create regular flight plans or fly "direct" to a airbase, etc.
Here's an example of what you'd see on the NS430 for Syria (note how the airfields and beacons are displayed but the coast line is missing).

However, SIDS and STARS require additional data to be added to the NS430's database i.e. RNAV waypoints and fixes and the procedure(s) to fly them.
Oh cool, that looks pretty decent actually. Thanks for the screens, they paint a better picture. I think it's not too bad then, if I take it as a bit of added realism, rather then a training aid :)) use it with a grain of salt

  2. Nothing substantial (other.dat holds some "cities of world" coordinates).
The NS430's "aptdb" folder has SIDS/STARS only for the Caucasus, Nevada and Persian Gulf maps.
Additional NS430 Navaid data is read directly from DCS map "beacons.lua" files i.e. airport ID's, coordinates, etc.
OK, I see. I'm guessing no support for Mariannas or Syria then. But thanks for your input bro.

  3. Hi all. Can anyone suggest if the module is capable to navigate intersections and do sid and star procedures? I want to learn it but don't fancy switching over to xplane or msfs for it.. Thanks.

  4. Hi guys, was hoping to get some advice from the community. Can anyone suggets a good beginer friendly campaign for f18? I'm not new to dcs, but was always in and out of it. Have some experience in fc3 and f5, but finally decided to dive in and got f18 which I found to be a real joy to fly and operate. But because of the overwhelming ammount of systems and content I'm sometimes lost. Is there a campaign or maybe set of missions that can teach me the aspects of the jet, and have some logical structure and gradual progression, instead of throwing you in the deep straight away? Apart of the default training missions. Hope it all makes sense. Thanks!

  5. Somehow it gives me the feel that it will be the new Caucasus kind of map. Russia/Georgia vs Russia/Scandinavia. Naval operations, lots more lakes, rivers, POIs, better details on terrain and cities. Better looking geografical features, but similar theatre to Caucasus. It's like you get the same features, possibilities but way better looking. 🙂 exciting! Hopefully it will become very popular for content making and MP.

  6. Hi guys, maybe bit off topic but I didn't know where else to post this. I've been studying 3d modelling and everything around it and I'm looking to put this knowledge to practice. Does anyone know anyone or a company, that needs a 3d modeller for freelance work or anything like that? 🙂

  7. Thanks a lot for all the input. That was my guess on gpu usage as well. Athough I didn't expect it to be so dramatic. I went with 30x series gpu only because I knew that cpu is next in the line of upgrades. And yeah I will go for a 1440p res definetely. I tried MT version and it makes no difference in frames, however task manager shows increase in cpu usage from around 50 to 75% now. But it makes no difference in fps or at least not enough for me even to notice. If I run a free flight instant action mission frames are way better and gpu is loaded way more but still at around 50%. So I guess it indicates that cpu is struggling less and hence the improvement.

  8. Thanks for all the replies guys, appreciate it. A bit off topic question, but still. Does anyone have an idea why my gpu is always only 20-30% utilised? I do have an old cpu atm, i7 4770 and 32gb ram. I feel like its just a waste at the moment, I know cpu is old, but really? Such a little use of gpu...Or if anyone could point me in the right direction on forum please. Cheers!

  9. I found it and just tried it now. No difference at all. GPU usage on pause is around 60% which makes dcs run ok ish, but as soon as I unpause it it drops to 10-15%..Very strange as I tried other missions with lots of units in them and started another campaign which was fine as well. All the time it's above 50% utilisation.

  10. So I just started the Black Sea resolve campaign for f5 and I was really enjoyoing it until I started noticing that I have quite low fps  specifically when playing it. And so I went on to task manager and saw that whenever campaign is running I get really low gpu utilisation, around 10-15% and so it results in a slideshow in game. I can't figure out why, because dcs in general and any other campaign/mission on f5 or any other air frame runs at 60-90%. Weirdly enough as well, if I'm in a mission and on pause(not active one) I suddendly get higher gpu load, as soon as I unpause it drops again to under 20%... I'm out of ideas on this. Any help would be appreciated. Could it be because of cpu bottleneck? It's usage sits at around 50% as well. And it is an old cpu also. Thanks. p.s. gpu is rtx 3060ti, cpu i7 4770.

  11. Message to creator and to anyone that could advice me on this. So I just started the campaign and I was really enjoyoing it until I started noticing that I have quite low fps  specifically when playing it. And so I went on to task manager and saw that whenever campaign is running I get really low gpu utilisation, around 10-15% and so it results in a slideshow in game. I can't figure out why, because dcs in general and any other campaign/mission on f5 or any other air frame runs solid at 60-90% and good fps. Weirdly enough as well, if I'm in a mission and on pause(not active one) I suddendly get normal gpu load, as soon as I unpause it drops again to under 20%... I'm out of ideas on this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. p.s. gpu is rtx3060ti
