Ground forces do not carry IFF Systems. If if you could interrogate, they wouldn't reply. Best thing to do is Visually ID them through your camera, know what the good guys look like, and know what the bad guys look like. Also, take into account the direction in which the enemy is coming, and where the friendly line is before going out, this can make it easier in determining their ID.

Outstanding! Looking forward to hearing the results!

Should be able to change that in the key assignments. Swap the assigned keys and you should be good to go.

Below is a quick and dirty drawing of how I have mine set up. By moving the TrackIR emitter to above the monitor, The Wii Remote doesn't see the IR from it.

Yes, all this required from the Wii is the controller, which are also sold separately. I have contacted a manufacturing company to try and get these made on a more product related level. I should be hearing back from them within the week. The requests we have received for this has pretty much made it so we would not be able to do this on our own, unless it was done full time. I'll have more info in the next week.

A webcam would not work unless you had software that would interface and be able to interpret the IR light as mouse clicks. Headtracker functions because of the software it interfaces with.

Yes. I have had no problem hitting any switches in the DCS cockpit. Larger ones like the master arm, all the way down to the smaller toggles for the data link and back right panel. Right now I am looking at making this a bit smaller, to the point where it should fit on the finger, up to the first knuckle. If anyone is interested now though, I can work a few more up with gloves and send them out. I'll ensure that the quality is better than my prototype. It does take some time though, so this can't be for free. $30US would be fair. If you are interested, please get a hold of me by PM here, or through e-mail; CockpitIR (at) Gmail (dot) com

Make sure you have "clickable cockpit" turned on? -
Pretty much! As stated above, the bluetooth USB dongle is also required. Found mine at Radio Shack for 10 bucks. I have also read that dongles using the BlueSoleil software are the most effort free in recognizing the Wii Remote.

Contrail You are at the time that also gave me the most trouble. I had to find the right spot for the remote so it could see the entire monitor, without anything blocking it, while also at the same time moving the TrackIR out of the remotes field of view. I eneded up moving the TrackIR up above my monitor about 6 inches, with the remote about a foot behind my left shoulder at the same level as my monitor. The only difference with this is that I now have to wear my ballcap and clip slightly back on my head for the clip to remain in the field of view of the TrackIR.

Reminds me of a belly up fish. Either way....I think she's dead, Jim.

I'm glad that this is something other people are interested in. I would love to see what ya'll come up with, with pictures of course. For me, what I put up is actually version 3 of the glove. I had tried 2 different switches before going with this longer "pole" type switch. Previously I went with the smaller keyboard switch that was mentioned earlier, and also a smaller detect switch. Both of these though did not provide accurate results when clicking in the cockpit. For me, I think it was becasue of the small click areas within the cockpit on the monitor. I found that with a visable reference, in this case the pole, the accuracy of the click was better. It also gives a reference to the eyes and brain as to where the click is on the screen.

Not the prettiest piece, but I was going for functionality before looks. I also wanted to keep the wires a little longer so they have some room to move for when I have my hand on the Joystick. The wires are not soldered to the battery, electrical tape is holding them secure. Also, golf gloves are generally left handed. Had to do some trimming to get the right hand in there comfortably. The switch was purchased at Radio Shack. Also, the switch acts as a circuit interrupt, meaning the LED will not light until the switch is pressed. Every press of the switch lights the LED and stays light while the switch is pressed. This isn't a toggle switch, it's more like a pressure button. USB Bluetooth dongle is what I use to connect the remote to the PC, Voice Star to be specific.

The software that is required can be found at the link below. This software will link with your Wii Remote and interpret the IR light as mouse clicks. http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/ You will also need to have your PC up on Bluetooth to connect to the Wii Remote. The position of the LED should be close to where you are touching the screen, but does not need to be exact. There is a calibration part of the Wii Remote Whiteboard software that correct for this. Position the Wii Remote so that it can see the monitor clearly (I have mine on a Surround Sound speaker stand over my left shoulder). If you have Track IR, you may need to reposition the unit as the IR light that it uses may interfere with the Wii Remote camera. The Wii Remote has about a 45 degree field of view, so keep this in mind when positioning the remote. All in all, it's a fantastic integration of pieces for a truley interactive result. Once you get used to the mouse hot spots for the clicking, it's almost natural.

These airports have lights?! Great shots bratwurst, #2 darn near looks real!

I saw some interesting stuff online about using the WiiMote as an IR tracker and decided to put something together for these wonderful clickable cockpits. Using an old golf glove, I attached an IR LED, battery and switch to enable my LCD monitor to act like a touch screen. Wasn't to hopeful at first, but in the end it actually works, and works very well! Here's a quick video of this little gadget, dubbed the "Power Glove" (originality is not what I get paid for), at work in Black Shark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLkfx6QxLfg

It would be interesting to see the results. The dual core is half of the hz of his P4, so this would be interesting to see BS's use of the CPU. My rig is about identical to yours, minus the Graphics card (Nvidia 9800GTX) and it is unplayable in missions (10 FPS and under). Flys great though in a blank mission I created (no AI) though. If you run it on both, please post your results!

Have you checked your profiles in trackIR to make sure that the axis is turned on?
