@KidCharlemagne I can do 44-14699 "Shady lady" from the 67th TRG if you want.

I'd definitely be interested! Have you thought about doing any 9th WRS tails? They're one of the lesser known squadrons but were still pretty interesting.

Did last week's DCS update bork SimShaker for Aviators?  Was working nicely right up until then.

SimShaker Sound Module TEST works OK.

SimShaker for Aviators 'sees' me get in the jet and sets Model: F/A-18.

But the EFFECT Monitor now shows nothing being sent for any events in the jet.

Did 'DCS Repair Export' with no result.

DCS Debug View shows SSA is receiving data.

I'm getting similar results with the F-16 and the latest OpenBeta.

  3. I occasionally wind up with AI flights that fly at absurdly low altitudes and/or low speeds. For instance, I was flying a mission last night to strike a SAM site and the flight of four F-15C's that was to be my escort spent almost the entire flight at 3,000 ft and no more than 200 kts until they reached the target area.

I checked the mission editor, and their altitude was correctly set at 24,000 ft, but their speed was set to 3.892 knots. I assume the speed had something to do with the "fix time" option being checked, but I'm not sure why they leveled out so low. Has anyone else run into this sort of situation?

  4. I would highly recommend Mover's video on the subject!

My personal opinion is that we don't know what the phenomena in these videos are, or that they're related, or that they jammed the missile's radar. It's a leap and a half to say that they're aliens or even that they're anything tangible. From a scientific perspective personal eyewitness accounts are one of the least reliable forms of evidence one could have. Also, I know that many people claim a radar contact disappearing then another contact appearing several miles away is depicting a single object travelling a great distance almost instantaneously in defiance of known physical principles. If one's explanation for this incident involves defying the laws of physics, however, I'd argue it's not a very compelling explanation. If you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras.

That all being said, I did enjoy watching the videos!

  5. After this most recent update, I've had trouble with the "Kiss Off" command. When I give it, I'm told that the selected recipient is not a Supercarrier unit, despite being a flight of Hornets. The full sequence is:

    Recognized: 'kiss off'

    Captured sentence: kiss off

Have result, identified as command: Kiss Off

Getting selected unit for category ATC

Identified unit: unknown with id 16777728

Recipient for ATC set by call contents.

Selected recipient is not a Supercarrier unit.

I can still get my wingman to execute the break with the "Return to Base" call, but I'm curious what isn't working with the "Kiss Off" command. Is it something to do with ATC being set as the recipient?

    Thanks for your help!

  6. Same here. Very often the coms menu does not work. This has been a problem in some of the German fighters as well.

I'm glad to hear it's not just me!

    Update:

I have been able to get responses by turning on Easy Communication. This has (so far) only worked in missions of my own creation and still doesn't work in the Quick Start missions.

  7. It seems that the radios aren't working all the time in the P-47D.

I use Vaicom Pro for my radio communications, and wingmen are currently only responding to commands while stationary on the ground. As soon as the flight is airborne, it seems that messages are ignored. I did get some recognition by sending a command through Vaicom, then pressing the PTT key 6-7 times, but this was inconsistent.

Out of curiosity, I disabled Vaicom and used the normal communications menu (RAlt + \) to send orders to the flight. This worked more regularly, but still didn't work on any of the dogfight/furball missions on the channel map.

Frequencies were all checked in ME, the proper channel was selected, and the radios were powered.

  8. Believing BMS is a good reference to DCS is the same that believing both of this cars are the same because they are both made by Chevy and both called Malibu.

Actually, I'd say this is a great comparison! It's pretty well known that the base avionics used in BMS are a mix of blocks, upgrade packages, export versions, and retrofits from around the world. It's definitely a great sim, but it's a slightly different approach than ED is taking.

  9. Will buy the minute it's released. Mocked up some CASE I's today because I was fiddling with the comms menu. What a pain to use if you're used to VAICOM.

I'm right there with you- I won't even try Supercarrier until I can talk to it with VAICOM.

  10. Hi Mbot, I was just wondering if you had documentation on which files did what? I was thinking of creating a dynamic campaign based on the Normandy WWII Theather.

If you don't thats perfectly fine. I'll figure it out. I just thought of checking if you did.

There are some helpful posts throughout this thread, but Klem did a great job compiling a lot of information into an explanatory document. Post #560 on page 56 of this thread has the doc. Hopefully that can get you started!

  11. Hello all,

I know that the radar strength coefficient is an item that has been addressed in the past, but I am still seeing the JF icon appearing on my RWR inner ring much earlier than should be expected (100 nm+). Is anyone else seeing similar effects while flying with AI JF-17's near them?
