AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
BusPilot replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
In single player it works ok, not great, but manageable. On heavy missions it start the stuttering. My actual rig is a Alienware Area 51m laptop, that’s why I can’t upgrade only the GPU, it runs on desktop parts, at least on paper and benchmark tests, but I’m getting a full refund from Dell, that’s why I must spend the 5.5K on hardware. And I can’t hold it for later do it, I must spend it until the end of this month. Enviado do meu iPhone usando Tapatalk -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
BusPilot replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
Thank you guys for the amazing answers! I’m leaning more to i9 12900K with RTX 3090ti. I have a quest 2 on my actual rig, i9 9900K + RTX 2080 non-ti and the results are completely terrible with VR. Minecraft graphics and many stuttering, growling sidewinder server is unplayable. So I was thinking in try the 5800X3D, but I like to play other games. Like Squad, arma 3, X-plane, MSFS2020 and call of duty, I’m not sure how would be building a complete new rig based on AM4 socket knowing that i couldn’t upgrade it in the future. Maybe Intel would be a best bet. -
AMD 5800X3D, the new King for flight simulators?
BusPilot replied to maxsin72's topic in Virtual Reality
Guys, I’m about to building a new rig, I got a credit to expend exclusively on a PC, veeery generous budget, so I’m not worried with price, because if I don’t spent the credit, the money is gone. I read the whole topic but I’m still can’t decide about the 5800X3D and i9 12900K, even with the AM5 about to be released, it worth go with 5800X3D? Or should I go with 12900K? Paired with a RTX 3090Ti. Any thoughts on specs? -
The feeling is pretty much this. Has been a couple months that I moved to china, I started to change all my set-up to fly here, bought the alienware area 51m, i9 9900k, rtx 2080, desk mounts, VKB rudder pedals, Track Ir. MFD Cougar. Everything is ready, except the fact that I can't play on DDCS and Blueflag, or growling sidewinder anymore. And the idea is to stay here for long years. I tried the Qiyou, ping of 280ms on growling, sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. I will try the 4G and see if it is better. Thanks everbody by the help!

Thank you for clarification Insonia. I tought that a large bandwidth is followed by a good latency, but as we see, this is not true, specially in china. Leave china is not an option in the table. Unfortunately I will have to change my games for the ones allowed to play here. I do love DCS, but there is a lot of thinks in the stake here. In the end, is just a game. Thank you for the explanations!

Oh, nice! I didn't knew about game accelerator. If someone has any tip, please!

I'm using a china telecom link, with 1000mbs, even with this link, the latency is 260ms in the best servers, many stay above 350 ms... and always using VPN. I can log without the vpn, but to see the server list, or to connect via ip, I need the VPN. I dont know if there is something to do.
-
Thank you for the information! I do can acess the site and the game directly, but the server is always empty without the vpn. If I can log directly trought IP I receive the message: server is offline. It just work with the VPN. And the connection is terrible with this. Any thoughts?

Hi Guys, I recently moved to china and I'm suffering a lot to find severs to play online, I need always to use VPN to enter in any server and this cause a severe lag. I saw a old post here saying that DCS world is not blocked in china, but as far as I seen, it is. Someone can help me with this?

Alienware Laptop for DCS?
BusPilot replied to bernieleel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have a alienware 17 r4, i7 6820hk, 32gb ram, ssd, gtx 1070. Do not expect the same performance of a desktop. I had some issues with low FPS, the graphics are almost on high, maybe 75% and on cold start missions I got 45 fps... 40... it's a shame how laptop perform on Dcs, but I'm a airline pilot, this is the only one solution to travel and play.. Yes, cant change the heatsink neither the fans. Anyway I had just give up about the heat, the laptop is under warranty, so if it burns isn't a big deal. The problems right now is the FPS on 30... 32... even with low settings.
-
Hi! The system is a Alienware 17 R4, the fan and heatsink was replaced about 5 months ago by Dell. Yesterday I did a repaste with thermal grizzly kryonaut, almost didn't notice any difference, besides the heat, I think my fps performance isn't as good as it should be for the specs. Any thoughts?

Help with Frames Hi guys, sorry about the late response, but i had attached some screenshots from my gameplay, XTU and configs. I got the temps under control undervolting my CPU, anyone could help me?
-
I forgot another important thing. With the overclock, got 4.0 GHZ on CPU constantly, usually 40 or 36% load, GPU 60.. 80% use and FPS nearby 60Fps with vsync. Some drops to 50.. 56 Fps. The problem is. The temperature at 80c and some top at 94c...

Slow Performance on Alienware 17 R4 Hi guys, I'm trying to do a new post, but seems to be my account on this forum doesn't allow. I need some help with my system. I just got decent frames overclocking my CPU on LVL 03 overclock from alienware. I would like to know if it is normal for a alienware 17 r4, frames about 38, 30 FPS on cold start F/A 18 with graphics on low. Alienware 17 R4 GTX 1070 i7 6820HK 32 GB ram DDR 4 3 SSD'S= 100 GB, 128 GB, 960 GB (the game is on this) 1080p resolution Any thoughts? Thanks
