Thanks for all the answers, and I get smarter for each I read. I'm guessing towards an icing problem. I didnt get any warning though, but I guess it can happen. This happened in a pretty low valley, but i'm not sure what the baro-altmeter said. And im pretty sure there wasnt any enemys around at the moment.

As stated in the topic I lost one engine flying around in the mountains. As the "well trained?" pilot I am, I jettisoned my externals an went in for an emergency landing. Fortunately I found a good spot and landed sort of safely on the ground. My question is now; what the hell happened? Never been so gentle flying this machine as this time. So after I landed I did something I do not think the russion army would have applauded me for. I tried to start the failed enginge and it worked...for a while...until I reached about 30 m(perfect timing). Then both struck out. There were never any fire or nothing. Bug or likely to happen? Could it have been ice? This was in the mountains, but in the lower parts where i guess the temp is a bit higher. Was never warned to turn on the de-icing/heating system. Sort of fun when these things occur though. Handling something unforeseen.

From which height does this happen? The auto-hover is limited to heights over 4 m, and just the same things you mention has happened to me when I' m to low!

I'm no expert on joysticks, but if youre not considering pedals I would strongly recommend a joystick that will able you to kontroll your rudder! I'm using an old MS sidewinder and it works perfectly for my preferences, although it's not state of the art. edit: there's lots of educationg videos at youtube that saves you alot of manual reading.

I started out flying with just keyboard and mouse while I waited for my stick. I wouldn't recommend this game without having a joystick of any kind. However, you do not have to read the entire manual to get flying, but when you start loving this game, you just dont mind reading som pages in the manual or info at this forum provided by the excellent community!

From the tack you posted I can see that you have a set of vihkrs at just one of the wings. In that case the auto hover will make corrections, and the square will not center out.

In the real thing the cyclic stick wont kick back to its original position and therefore it wont feel so sudden. The stick will just hold its position as you trim. If I have understood it right.
