  1. ..thanks guys. Very helpful as usual. I'll try this out tonight for sure.
  2. I think so Phoenix... Just to make sure though,. Imagine that I'm behind a hill and want to pop up and fire...so I'm in auto hover already. What you're saying is to press and hold the collective break...increase collective to "pop-up" to the desired alt. Release collective break once I get to the desired alt...then unleash hell :joystick:
  3. What's the best way to increase your altitude while hovering? I've read some say the collective break, but right now I'm just turning off the altitude hold and slowly inching my way up in order to peak over hills. ...thoughts?
  4. ...nice. Was thinking of getting an X52 Pro, but you've got to tell us how this plays with BS.
  5. Hey all, Been getting back into DCS after a bit of a break and the purchase of a new computer....so, the new trim system in, well, new. So, is it correct then to press and hold the trim WHILE you are turning...then, when you're done the turn and flying straight and level to then release? ...seems like there are lots of ways of turning the aircraft, including the producer notes/videos in which it seems he does not press/hold while making turns. I find that a bit difficult as I seem to be fighting the aircraft more, but it seems to be the way to go when getting into a hover. ...thoughts? :pilotfly:
  6. Bought it last night and played with the A-10 for about 2-3 hours. I have lots of practicing to do, but it was totally worth the purchase. I was able to find my LOMAC cd and just bought FC. ...firing that Vulcan cannon is sweet ;)
  7. Buying as we speak. Thanks for the input all.
  8. Thanks guys.... ...do I just have to buy FC, or both Lock On and FC together?
  9. Hey all, I'm really enjoying Black Shark...it's really got me back into sims again. I bought Lock On when it first came out and, well, it did not perform very well at all, which was not good cause I really wanted to fly the A-10. I just downloaded the LO demo and it really works beautifully. Question is, should I get Lock On for the A-10 experience knowing that DCS A-10 is right "around the corner"? I know there are a lot more aircraft in LO, like the SU-35...but I'm not sure if it's a fun aircraft to fly. :joystick: ...any thoughts?
  10. Extremely helpful answers...thanks all.
  11. I hear lots of great things about Track IR, but does anyone here use FreeTrack with BS at all? If so, what are your thoughts on FreeTrack? I have no problems getting Track IR, I just don't want to spend money if I don't have too :smilewink:
  12. Hey Slayer...that's exactly the behavior that I'm experiencing. I'll take a look at the trim reset and give that a try. Thanks :pilotfly:
  13. Yeah. Thought of that around the time I really started to see this control issue. But no, I don't think it's causing it...but I always check that now as part of my "getting out of hover" procedure. I remember reading that the trim controls do get into a bad state every once an a while. Can anyone confirm that?
  14. Hey all, I'm not exactly sure how to explain this...but here it goes. I've been playing the training mission found here: http://tinyurl.com/bxmwel I've played it constantly for the last week or so in order to get use to the aircraft's systems. It's a great starter mission but I start running into issues near the end of the mission. Before I go into details let me just say that yes, I tink everything is calibrated and mapped correctly to my Cyborg Evo joystick.... ;) When I take off, the controls work as I expect them to. I'm able to smoothly turn and trim the aircraft with no issues what so ever. I attack the first set of targets with no problems but once I get to waypoint 4 to attack the troops and tents, the controls start to go a bit "crazy". I find it very hard to stabilize despite all of those three blue buttons being on (...can't recall thier name right now...). I did notice that these targets are in a vally surrounded by hills, so could it be wind that is causing so much dancing of the helo? Dunno Also, at that point I'm using guns and rockets, and I'm still not use to firing those, so this might just be a situation where I'm chasing the controls too much when I'm using weapons that I need to aim using the nose of the aircraft. :joystick: I think because I'm making multiple turns and course changes, I may be getting the aircraft in an unstable state without even knowing it. ...any thoughts about when I'm doing wrong, or is there a control issue with the game after a certain amount of time played? Thanks, D
  15. I'm kind of new to this simulator, and I've got to say it is extremely fun to play. I can't recommend it more than that.. I mostly stuck to just learning the start up procedure myself and was able to go at it on my own in a couple of hours. Flying is trickier, but again, I was doing my own hovering and flying within a couple of days. I only have about 5 hours of flight time and I've already completed my first mission without anything "bad" happening. Well...a couple of broken wheels on landing ;) As for joystick. Ummm....I would recommend getting on because I cannot imagine playing this without one. D
  16. Thanks Moose. /goes back to crashing a perfectly good aircraft
  17. I just wanted to thank the DCS team for providing this simulator. I'm having a lot of fun learning this stuff again. I've been out of the "sim gaming" scene for quite a while. Actually, the last one being Longbow 2 and Falcon 4.0 back in the day. Great work and I'm really looking forward to more sims from you guys. Cheers, D
