The OpenXR Toolkit isn't required to run DCS with the openxr runtime, it just gives options for tuning and adjustments ingame.  It should be possible to make adjustments to the settings via registry key changes but I cannot recommend this.

Yea, of course 🙂  Just wanted to find out if my installation is working as intended right now. For nowI guess I ll revert back to SteamVR anyway because of VRNS and anti haze shaders. But I ll keep an eye on it 🙂

    J2_NobiWan on the forum of the *other sim* stated the following;

VRNS depends on SteamVR/OpenVR functions. Unless these are not provided by OpenXR (or OpenComposite) it will not work. However I also find the well documented "OpenXR Toolkit" quit interesting. The appoach shown there might be a way forward...

So seems like he is not shuting the door completely for NS to work with OpenComposite 🙂

Yea this gave me hope 😍 then I ll only need a working anti-haze shader like reshade 4.9

If your'e DCS install is anywhere downstream of :\Program Files\ it might be a permissions issue.

Got it to work by running a small repair with Skatezillas tool. Installing kegetys shaders keeps freezing DCS in mission loading. But DCS works and I also guess OpenXR does. However, being able to  bring up Setting popup doest work anymore suddenly. And I also have the sticky cursore like Fish.

Edit: Forget about the cursor, just saw post above me.

If haze is your primary reason for running Reshade (like me ), try running Taz's fix on Kegety's shader mod. He included a haze fix.

I haven't used VRNS in a while, will check if it's working on mine later. OpenXR should show a user interface in DCS if running. I believe the default to trigger it is Ctrl+F2.

Make sure you don't have a DCS function bound to that. You can also set your own from the OXR companion app.

I set mine to Alt+up down left right

Thank you so much for the input.

    - I did install the shader. Did it manually as OVGME didnt work (because overwriting is necessary?). Can't tell the difference. Would need a key to compare like HOME with reshade 4.9

    - Me being an idiot didnt install OpenXR Toolkit. Did this like in initial post. But I cant open menu it in DCS although its open on desktop. Took away CTRL+F2 from the default mapping in DCS but still I cant open it.

    - Bonus question: is 1.0 in Dev Settings of OpenXR equal to 100% in SteamVR?

EDIT: Looks like OVGME didnt overwrite OCXR WMR ACC too so I have to try again anyway 😄

  5. I did this yesterday using the OVGME Method. Any way to tell it worked? Didnt note any difference in FPS or clarity. But I lost my reshare 4.9 which made my grafics less milky/foggy and what is worse: I cant use VRNecksaver anymore because I m not allowed to start SteamVR before or after launch of DCS. Before I try to get something out of OpenXR: Is there anything I can do about it? How can I verify OpenXR works correctly? Can you revert by just deactivating the Mod in OVGME?

  6. Here and there buttons and usually only few buttons stop working in flight on my stick. They work again after some time and it seems to help to just open controls in flight. DCS doesn't prompt that sth was disconnected. The axis aren't part of the problem. Some buttons are more prone to failure than others. Especially the little hat switch right from the trigger which I use for kneeboard controls.

    Any ideas?

  7. I am using the HP reverb G2 for quite some time. To try again standed games like Onward and Pavlov I re-installed my Vive Pro and the wireless adapter. I came to the conclusion that even there I would now prefer the G2 picture even with less effective tracking and an annoying cable.

When reverting back to G2 I wanted to use my Index Knuckle Controller I used with my Vive Pro. Flashing two steam controller dongles did do the trick along with some more VR plugins.

But now my VR stack for DCS got really flimsy. In most cases DCS VR crashes to the clifff house and DCS VR desktop view and game is still running. Also the headset or steam vr or wmr doesnt work at all. The G2 is marked with an arrow down in the device manager and I constantly have to switch ports, adapter.

I did update bios, set PIC-e to 3x, uninstalled complete Vive and wireless software, removed wireless card from PC, disabled all VR plugins, updated firmware of Vive and I think situation got better. However, even after using different USB-3.0 and USB-C ports, mainboard and card, via adapter or directly, through powered and non-powered hubs it's still behaving strange. Often the stack doesn't completely start (wmr and steamvr including succesfull detection of HMD) but the worst problem now is, that the VR picture usually crashes into the WMR cliff house. The game keeps playing on my desktop but I cant get back into VR. I reinstalled steamvr and wmr for steamvr, opted in and out of betas but still.... I usually crash to cliff house. Sometimes DCS doesnt even start or starts in 2D only.

After wasting hours and hours I really could need some help.

    My Setup:

I79700K on Asus Rog Strix Z-390-E
    32GB RAM
    3080ti
    Game on M2
    Latest Open Beta
    Win10

Awesome! Can’t wait try that legend of my childhood on your great server.
Do you expect a longer downtime of your server when it releases?

I think that would be a little too overpowered, considering you could carry up to at least 4 R60m and also anti-tank missiles if you had just Mi-24s in sufficient numbers they could clear missions possibly a bit too easy. The Mistrel Gazelle is pretty limited in the server because it's quite effective, now add the ability to move faster, and have anit-tank missiles and it's a bit much. Maybe if it could just carry the R60 vanilla but even then I would say only for a mission or 2 at best.

and we have the missile vid out

just got the Mi-24 Anti-tank missile vid out. Might come out this Wednesday guys 😄

I guess Alpenwolf will find a way to keep it balanced. I prefer balancing to simply restricting. Even some unbalanced days in the beginning shouldn’t hurt too much. And it doesn’t replace a bad helo. Taking out the shark also takes away its special advantages.

  9. My bet is on the Phantom:

    why?

    - Multicrew like the F14

    - afaik license fell (back) to ED and they don’t seem to be keen on doing it

    (leaving some kind of vacuum)

    - Fits perfectly for the Forrestal

    - Fits even better to their Forrestal plane set of F-14 and A6

    - it‘s (also) a Fighter. They said it’ll be a fighter

    - Phantom is a big market in DCS and HB deserves such a high value project

    - would be a great pick if you want variations like F14 A and B. Variants make so much sense for the F4. Too bad the F-4F II ICE being one of them isn’t very likely

    - CEO seems to be a big fan of the USS Forrestal which adds to the Forrestal bullet points above 😬

A Phantom would be really cool but I would also welcome a Me262 or a Zero 😬

what do you mean by that?

Wasn’t it released quite surprisingly compared to the usual process?

At least it should be mandatory to make the Hind playable prior to the Apache. No matter how. Don’t get me wrong because I loooove high end developed red stuff but I’d guess a playable Apache would distract more customers from a Hind release than the other way

    if I were ED I’d:

    - offer pre purchase Apache

    - followed by release / EA of Hind without pre

    - followed by release/ EA of Apache

  11. Probably fine with the firmware it came with.

Definitely calibrate, using the VKB software.

Follow their calibration guide on their website.

    Do not calibrate in Windows.

Will do! Changed springs, put everything together and updated firmware so far. Difficult to get a good overview what you need especially as the PDFs for the single tools didn’t mention that gunfighter is supported. Slowly took first steps as I only had few minutes today here and there because of real life. Will calibrate tomorrow and start testing in DCS and MF FS. Like the feeling of X and Y already. Grip itself is somewhat strange to me until now. For some Buttons my hand seems to be too small and for some too big. Overall strange when you are used to the massive WT build. But I love the many buttons that’s why I opted for this grip. I really hope I get used to less tactile feedback from the buttons and overall ergonomics. But as I said already now the X and Y seems to be very good. No deadzone resistance. My Warthog already got somehow sticky

  12. Springs - with extension yes you will probably want to the #50 spring. You have a spring pull tool in there that makes this a very easy job really.

Extension - hooks on the same way as the grip. There is an adapter that is like two round solid metal rods with a v cut out in middle. That goes in the hole, attach grip or extension properly, then tighten the screw to firmly attach.

I am assuming that the twist version attaches the same way.

Thanks! But the grip is only screwed to extension but extension only sits loosely on base, right?

But wait... adapter you said. Found no additional adapter in the package. Looking again...

    Edit:

Oh I see there was a second screw in the 50# package. The V/U Cut is for ergonomic adjustments, right? Gonna put the #50 in to protectcthe stick mechanics (guess I would take less even with 20cm extension). Hope it’s not too difficult.

About the twist. Looks like it only twist into one direction and only a very short distance
