Problem solved. Thanks Flappie! I think you got it. While the update was downloading the files again, I went into hidden icons and exited everything I could (nVidia Control panel, Win PowerAutomate, etc) then went into task manager and noticed there appeared to be 2 incidents of DCS Updater running. One of them showed 0% cpu/mem/disc/net in use. I ended task on that one while the other kept running. There also appeared to be a third NVIDIA Container running with 0% versus normally 2, which I ended as well. In the end it completed full update and now I'm on .51704 Speculation is, when updater desktop icon launched, it kept starting 2 incidents, and they played tug-of-war with the animator.dll when they got to that point. Thanks again.

I'm stumped. Win11 machine with current updates. I've reinstalled the current Updater from DCS, run updater_repair and updater_cleanup, whitelisted in antivirus (W11 Defender), run updater as Admin, and even deleted the Syria clipmap per one of the suggestions. Download runs fine. It seems to proceed through install, but eventually gets to a file it needs moved or deleted and stops there. In latest case "Can't delete X:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin/animator.dll: (5) Access is denied" but previuos attempts had slightly different files. It then default boots to 2.9.2.49940 Anybody have any ideas?

Well. Somewhat embarrassing, but found the problem. I was trying to find the Run.exe by following where my desktop shortcut (which I'd not changed at all) was pointed. Short story: for whatever reason, they didn't match. I was looking in wrong folder. Looked down in the .bin and sure enough, there it was. Remapped shortcut to that and it runs again. It's the simple things.

I forgot to mention. Same as Wiesel02 noticed, following whatever update prior to .45317, start-up now takes quite a bit longer than before on a 1TB SSD. My pagefile is now 16384

Program 2.5.6 was running very nicely for me. Seemed pretty stable until I updated last night to OB 2.5.6.45317 Install appeared normal, but now won't start from desktop short cut. Message says "The item Run.exe has been changed or moved...." I looked in the folder, and sure enough, there is no Run.exe anymore. It appears most of the other 21 (?) folders are still there in C: drive. Tried repair. It says successfully repaired version 2.5.6.45317@openbeta but still no Run.exe present. Nothing happens Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? Log is too long to post as >50000 characters. I can try attaching at notepad file saved games dcs log.txt

Excellent point! Thanks. I should probably do that more. I prefer to think of myself as a "Legacy" guy, so I'm fond of having a hard copy to flip through, but you are absolutely right.

Chuck, As always you have done PHENOMINAL work for the community!! We really appreciate the detail you have put into these. I have only 2 complaints: 1) Is there anyway you can slightly reduce the full page max color approach? I spend more in Epson ink cartridges than I do in DCS Modules. 2) Can you expand on the fact you now actually have a Patreon thingy? I only accidentally stumbled across it. My point being, we give you a couple more Quid, you give up a few nights - weekends, personal time, birthdays, anniversaries, etc., and we get some more guides!! WIN / WIN!
