  1. Hey guys,

I m tryin to get back into dcs after a long time (1 year) and I wanted to ask you what are the best VR shaders at the moment.

Also if you can point me to an website or page like this: How To Nail Your G1 & G2 Setup Optimized for Outstanding Views Thud's VR4DCS would be great. I see it hasn t been updated in a long time so I m not sure if those infos are still good.

    Thanks

    PS: I use a HP Reverb G2

The aux tank is empty. Don’t use it. Switch from the main to whichever external is installed until those are empty or you encounter enemy aircraft.

In the first mission I only have one tank...witch everyone drops when they encounter enemy ..that is exactly what I am doing..but after 4-5 min of flyin I am running out of gas.

You said: "you need to swithc the fuel selector on the external tank while it’s attached so that you only ose the internal tanks after you drop the external(s)"

    How do I do that?

the fuel gauge of the aux tank will show 0 but that’s ok

you may have overstressed your engine either by not keeping the temps in the green or flying at too high rpm and too low boost or vice versa. Check my playthrough video on youtube I explain engine management a bit.

switch it from main to aux?

  4. Hello,

So I had badluck first 2-3 times when VR crashed or I had a mid air colision, but last time..I almost finished the mission when the engine stoped..I look at the fuel gauge..zero. WTF ..is it because I droped the belly tank? But I did that 15 min before that happened. i also saw that all other planes had droped their tanks.

just for your own sanity PD 1, and Steam 100...

PD 0.5 and Steam 500 is actually the same as PD 1 and steam 125...

Also the G2 is much more resource hungry than the g1, the g1's native resolution was  approximately 2000x 2000 per eye.  The G2 has the same physical resolution, but to cope with barrel distortion they increase that to approximately 3000 x 3000 per eye  so you are nearly doubling the number of pixels you are pushing just by going to 100%, if you are on a super rather than a TI you might want to experiment with Steam 70% -80% which will improve things  dramatically in terms of performance and still give you better visuals than the G1.

But this is way off thread... and you should create a separate one if you need more help

    Thank you for your help

Try dropping your steam setting from 150 to 100 ... 5he scale is different with the g2

PD in DCS is 0.5 and in steam vr is 500%

Also tried with 1.0 in dcs and 100% in vr..no difference. And not only the performance is bad...the visuals also are not pleasing at all.

So how do you suggest to set the pd? 100% in steam and 1.0 in dcs? Will give it another try but that was the starting point

  7. After I upgraded to Hp Reverb G2 (from G1)  I noticed a huge hit in performance. Everything was smooth with G1 and I had no issue using this mod. There were several months between the g1 and g2 and I reinstalled the windows before using the g2..so the settings could be different. But as before I followed the instructions from www.vr4dcs.com and the Lukas s videos from yt.

Does the G2 require more resources than G1, or I am doing something wrong?

I use open beta (not the steam version)

    The systems is:

    i9 9900K (oc)

    rtx 2080 Super

    SSD, 32GB RAM

I also uploaded my dcs settings.

    Thank you!

PS: I also get a lot of edges shimmering even with ALL settings on high. I am sure I didn t have this issue before.

  8. I am not having a good experience at all with this updated version :((

when I move my head it is very jerky (not even close as smooth as it was before), the edges are shimmering/flickering. It s like the mod is not installed; acttualy even worse..since I didn t have the shimmering issue ever before.

    Any ideas? (I m using a hp reverb g2)

    Thank u guys

  9. edit _HMD.hlsl using notepad++ or similar

you will find the masksize in there

Kegetys native mod is the most performant, next is the ClearWater version, IC Pass is the least performing

Thank u ..I set it 0.600 (for my hp reverb) and now is fine. I would try to lower it (for better performance) but it takes soo long to start. Maybe one of u guys knows the masksize for hp reverb.

As for the mod..I downloaded the one from page 1, I think that s the one u say it is the best, right?
