  1. So roll on to what is now essentially 5 years later (necrothread time) and hydraulics are still pretty underdeveloped, and work incorrectly in A10c. Is there some reason why this hasn't been fixed and other projects up and away instead? It is like many have mentioned, a critical part of the sim. Engines shut down..next to no loss of hydraulic pressure - try it yourself!
  2. Why would this be overlooked? Seems sort of a rudimentary part of the aircraft modelling to me.
  3. Been looking for a while but can't seem to find any info regarding damage modelling to the A10c systems - specifically the electrical systems and computers. I am aware that things like the engines, fuel tanks, hydraulics etc can be damaged by enemy fire, but I just wondered what other parts are modelled. I haven't found any threads pertaining to this, but I apologise if I've missed them. Thanks guys, happy flying :joystick:
  4. Interesting, like I say, its one of the missiles fired at the beginning of the quickstart - I don't know what type it is, it just seems less than effective at killing the Hinds. I saw one take 2 direct hits and fly off - which I thought was a little bizarre for AA missiles which I generally percieved to be 1 shot 1 kill weapons.
  5. Hey there, was just wondering what was up with the survivability of Hinds in this sim vs ground based AA. I am currently all but useless at BS, but found something that I thought was not quite right. The ground based AA missiles fired at the helis in the quick start mission seem to do almost nothing to them. I've reloaded several times to observe the results - which do change - but never result in a Hind going down. I've witnessed most things from superficial damage, to having a wing stub ripped off, but nothing more, and whichever one is hit seems to carry on as if nothing was wrong. So I guess my question is how survivable are missile hits to these helicopters? According to this mission at least it would seem 100% Thanks for your thoughts :)
  6. So, how come we can hover and change our yaw attitude with the rudder? I've never thought about this before but it does seem to make some sense that you would need at least some airflow over the rudder to have it make a difference. Someone explain to me whats happening please!
  7. Aren't the pilots trained how to cope without ap?
  8. Rhen, what you describe is pretty much EXACTLY what simmers want - bar maybe the lists etc. We are fascinated by what real pilots have to go through, the procedures they must adhere to, and - of course - flashing lights lol. I am an avid gamer, and love to get straight into combat or whatever, but there are some itches just not scratched by the minimal input shallowness in 99% of titles. Thats what I like about BS - its not afraid to contain all the bells and whistles of heli combat in a market currently ruled by instant gratification.
  9. If you watch the lower right side of the video you can see the turret (or main part of it anyway) landing back on the ground and creating a trench due to its immense weight. Pretty cool. :P
  10. I am interested in knowing the main differences between the ED simulators made for commercial use, and those made under military contracts. I am taking a guess that it has something to do with targeting, yield of devices, and electronics suites?
  11. If they start implementing aircraft that they do not have comprehensive data for, this series is doomed. By using 'artistic license' or approximations, they lose the main draw (at least in my opinion) of the sim.
  12. 90. I don't care tooo much about the AI or collision free trees at this time, patches may well sort that out. For me, the biggest draw is always the flightmodel and authenticity of the subject...Though I am struggling to believe that I could start up, fly, and land a KA-50 in real life like I (just about) can here ;p.
  13. I have both, and experience no problems - I have an 8800GT though, so may be slightly different.
  14. Was just wondering what the maximum EGT was before unsavoury things start to occur?
  15. Is it me, or is it quite hard to deliberately break your flying death machine by flipping all the switches like a 5 yr old? I have no experience flying helis IRL, but it seems that even when acting like a toddler with ADD I can't spontaneously combust my engines or seize my gear with incessant switch fiddling and stick wrenching. I would have thought such abuse would be more..catastrophic - or at least damaging - but again, I have no idea hence why I'm asking! I must say though, that this is the greatest sim so far. Ever.
