  1. Hi,

In the making of a small training scenario with the AJS-37, I planned an airfield attack defended by some SAM systems (Tunguska and Shilka). On the top of a mountain located in the vicinity, I put an EWR that was group to those SAMs.

I would like to know if the SAM systems will be inform by the EWR that it detected the coming Viggen.

  2. Fantastic!

My last experience with a SAM (a Roland system) shooting at an Il-76. The plane was still flying on with no engine left and fire coming from the hull. Sorry but no sreenshot.

  3. Hi,

Don't know if already asked, but I would like to know what some of you think about the efficiency of the missile of the Rapier in DCS World.

In a simple training mission I made for myself, I put an Il-76 overflying at 10.000 feet an airbase defended by a Rapier system. the system detected the plane, shot all its four missiles without doing any major damages to the Il-76. The plane flew away without any problem depiste the fact of being hit four times.

    Is it normal?

  4. Hi,

I am very interested in the radar network modelization in DCS World. I already saw that there is many radar systems modelized but not as much as I though.

For exemple, I am a bit surprise that the Russian Spoon Rest is not modelized in DCS World as this type of radar is very much in use in many countries.

And what about GM-400 from Thales? Is there a restrain due to lack of knowledge?

  5. Hi,

I purchased AJS-37 last march (a very good sim btw) but I noticed that the afterburner effects (even on 3rd stage) on this plane are rather small. Is it like this in real life with this plane or is it a lack in the software (purposely or not)?

    Thanks for your answers

  6. I haven't been able to make that work in the mission editor since I bought FC3 (on September 20th). The ground-based radars neither light up my RWR nor put contacts on the HDD.

First, thanks for your answers. Il think I had the same kind of problem when using the mission editor. I had set up a US ground-base air surveillance radar on the top of a hill, near an airbase, and I was the Russian opponent with an KA-50. I never was quite sure that the radar worked and gave data to their own air defense systems as it seems that they were very passive or taken by surprise by the on-going attack.

  7. I do agree that destroying a tank with the 30 mm gun is not very realistic but what interested me is the damages that you can generate to the tank, ex.: optic and laser equipments, engine, machine gun, tracks, …

Is the “secondary” damages model in this sim?

  8. That. I've tested it. If you don't believe it why don't you test it yourself. Just put a bunch of friendly T-72 on one end of your runway - each heading different direction. Swich to low rate of fire, AP ammo and get on it! :)

    I will give a try.

  9. Thanks for all your replies, but I still did not get any clear answers about the use of Ka-50 30 mm gun against armored vehicles, beside that it would be dangerous (what I share with you). Some told me that the gun would be useless and some told that on the top or on the engine box, AP munitions would be quite damaging.

Can someone tell me how armored characteristics are model in BS?

  10. In DCS BS it's possible to defeat top armor and rear armor of a T-72 from less than 1000 m, I think. Rear armor being easier to defeat.

It doesn't change a (edit: the) fact that using cannon against MBT is silly both in reality and in DCS :)

Except if it is the last enemy tank left of the mission (with also no enemy AAA left), and you and your partner don't have any missile left.

  11. Useless.

You will never get close enough to begin with and if you do there's a Sabot waiting for you :D

    120mm_M830A1_kill.jpg

As we know the top of the tank is "softer" than the rest. Would you at very close range make some damage?

In the mission, I was talking first, I overflies the T-72 while fire HE munitions. Any chances to disable the beast?

  12. My question is simple:

how efficient is the 30 mm gun of the Ka-50 against armored vehicles?

In fact, during one mission, I faced T-72 tanks and because I did have anymore any anti-tank missiles, I decided to proceed with my gun. Of course, I did not achieve a lot as I fired from 3 km away but was nearing quiet fast until I was firing over its top and on its side with AP munitions and then with HE. It seems that it did not scratch a bit from this tank, but in real life is what would the effects of 30 mm gun fired over the top at very close range on heavy armored vehicles?

Moreover, I have to said that during this same mission, I had some problems to take out BTR-80 ‘s with the gun from 2,5 km away.

  13. Am I wrong, but I understood that during startup, it was need at the end of the procedure (when engines are running) to level by two step the "differential engines handler lever" to able the helicopter to work on its electric power.

The problem that it seems that this lever is active so I cannot move it. Is it normal?
