  1. Thank You so much! I had spent hours debugging this issue and this tip fixed it. I wanted to come up with a solution to allow me to continue to run Malwarebytes Premium in the background. I went into Malware Bytes: Settings/Play Mode/Manage Applications and added DCS.exe to the list. I turned on "Automatically enable Play Mode when a selected app is detected." Now I can run DCS in VR without shutting down this app and my horrible stuttering is gone too.
  2. I just want to say a big thank you to all who post here ... especially tips like the shader mod and how many ms you get in benchmarking free flight with your 2080 Ti. I applied the shader mod and am very happy with Reverb performance with my 2080Ti and AMD Threadripper 1920x 3.7 - 4.1 ghz machine, 32gb 3200 DDR-4. More importantly, you guys saved me a ton of cash. I was considering a i9-9900k with a top end motherboard and 32gb of 4000 DDR-4. Yet in these threads, I saw someone with that 9900 config, 2080ti, and shader mod getting identical timings that I do when running DCS F18 in VR with my current system. So I really would not benefit from an expensive new system. Thanks!
  3. a lot of good info for reverb and WMR users here: https://vr4dcs.com/2019/08/01/reverb-settings-for-dcs/ I wish I had come across more of this info sooner. Most of it is in this thread ...
  4. My thanks to those who replied regarding my video card question. It's a tough call making the choice since I don't consider the pricing and reliability of the 2080 series to be worth the money for any version currently on sale. I do not trust the used market enough to purchase a 1080ti either. Will continue researching reviews and reliability tales of woe.
  5. My Reverb arrives Monday from ShopBLT. Ordered a regulated PCI USB 3 card for a good port power source. Next up is to decide on a replacement on my 1080 card. Considering a 2080 Super or the cheapest EVGA Black 2080 Ti which is around $950 direct. My main concern is 2080Ti reliability and also the extreme temperatures that they run, 75-85C at full load. The added capability is probably worth the price jump from 2080 Super to the Black 2080 Ti. Any advice from current owners would be appreciated.
  6. I have an HP Reverb on order from Shop BLT since 3 June. Last week the order status changed ship dates to the end of August and early September. Today I checked and one shipment is coming in on 7/20. Hopefully, I will finally get to try it out. I want one ... even if I have to secure the cable at the headset and at the PC. I missed the Best Buy "in stock" window as well.
  7. I would follow these steps and avoid all liquid wipes. https://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Oculus-Rift-Lenses
  8. My shopblt preorder from 3 June, was delayed from 10 June, then did not ship on 20 June. My new estimate is now for July 12 to their warehouse. Sigh. I guess I should hope the extra time is to fix the cable connector issues and the overheating issues. Maybe the 2080 Super series of video cards will be announced by then because I have a feeling I will replace my 1080 shortly after I receive the Reverb.
  9. I would be very worried to use any sort of wipe on a VR headset lens. Here's some info that should be non-damaging. https://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Oculus-Rift-Lenses
  10. I always try to research vendors on the web. https://www.resellerratings.com/store/NextWarehouse Based on these ratings, I would carefully consider my options before placing an order.
  11. All the Shopblt.com preorders for the HP Reverb changed today from June 12 to June 21 ETA. So my preorder will be waiting. I'll have to research a new video card anyway as I have a 1080. My 1920X Threadripper runs DCS pretty well. The reported 2080Ti failure rates are a bit of a concern. The future should be great for the Reverb after VR map patches and then when native VR support arrives for it in DCS.
