Ive said this before...cant believe that no one believed me at the time.
I don't see why they didn't believe you ... I'm sure that they must have seen all of those hour long shows on HD Channel or The Military Channel by now...
I mean even the support C-130 has US Marines painted all over it...

There was a guy that spent quite a long time developing a new mission generator for Lock ON..
this was about 2 years ago..
Well there was some problems between him and ED concerning this ...
And he actually seem to disappear at one point ....
So if you start doing something along these lines I think that you should verify that everything's OK before you spend a lot of time on it...

The lights have been a big issue since Lock On first hit the selves...
One Guy even went as far as ranting about flashing beacons... And then there was the guy that actually asked for the kitchen sink (no lie)..
But as far as I'm concerned they always appeared to be just fine ....

As far as Ed producing an F-18 Flight Simulation / Game ... Huummmm...
They apparently do have enough data to actually give us a very detailed and well thought out game ..
But who's to say if they'll actually choose to do this ... Your guess is as good as mine....

The Lock On engine has just about run it course... I think I saw a post or 2 from the developers sometime ago concerning this...
They're apparently in the process or writing a new engine, and from what I recall they're also looking at Dual Core...
But will this happen and if so when will it be ready????
At least its something to think about and maybe look forward to anyway...

After installing Vista and LockOn:FC on my gaming laptop ( ATI9700 256Mb Pro Sager System, P4 3.4 Ghz, 2Gb ram, Raid-0) with no problems at all, and Flaming Cliffs running very well... I decided to try my hand on a brand new desktop box I just built.
This new one is a Core2Duo 2.66, 2 Gb SLI High Speed Ram, BFG 680i SLI motherboard with currently dual nVidia 7900's (later 8800's). I have to admit, things were not as easy as the laptop, but I have everything working great (HotasCougar, Ventrilo, TrackIR, CH ProPedals, etc..) and LockOn:FC running great except for one thing, a weird sound problem where I hear the engines really loud...even when they are off. Has anyone else encountered this sound issue and have a workaround?
The sound starts from the time you jump into the plane ( engines off ) until you get up to approx. 200 knots then it fades away, only to return later during normal flight.
Sounds as if the afterburners are on all the time. I will keep researching areas to see if I can resolve it.
I'm not sure exactly what your problem is .. It sounds like you might have the auto throttle engaged....
Try hitting the j key while your in flight...

Hi everyone.... I got problem flying F-15 and A-10 and don t know what is it. When i target whit F-15 or A-10 no meter air to air or to ground and misle is selected both of airplanes firing with gun. I can t fire misle...??? :helpsmilie:
Do somebody know what is the problem?
Thanks to all... ! ! !
Also you can get a very good idea by going through the options screen while in the game itself... But the best thing that I would recommend is go into Lock On in your C drive and print a copy of the key configuration... keep this next to you while flying a mission...This should help you to memorize all of the keystrokes and what they're assigned functions are...

Camel again this looks interesting .. Do you have plans on doing a prototype of this stick?? If you do you might want to consider doing the collector as well..
And if you could make these into a production run you might just be able to make some money....
Its just a though.. I know I personally have been waiting for someone to market a Russian stick since the Flanker days as I'm sure most of us have...

I will too as soon as I get me a joystick...I just dont know how good the 7300 Geforce will be on playing FC.
The Gforce 6800 utra was fine... And I also had the 6600 gto ... And just recently the 7900.. All of these were uber cards, although they did have the shimmering bug... But all in all very playable ..
I really think that your main concern here is your CPU.. As you know Lock On is very CPU dependent... You can easily replace a video card, but not the CPU...

But the training version must be a softened one.. real ejection is not a healthy sport and chances of the pilot ever flying a high g plane after one aren't that great.
Marine Corps training is hardly a sport, that's rather a bad choice of words there my friend...

No micro stutters here guy's.... I'm running at maximum graphics setting on all except for shadows and that's set on All planar... because of the noted Gforce 8800 bug..
FPS are very high and the game is very playable..
When I first built this system last month I was using the Asus sound card that came with the MOBO but soon chucked it out... I grabbed the X-Fi from my other system and installed it in this one, this model sound card has 3 separate panels, a game mode, audio and entertainment modes ..
I normally leave it set on game and just change it entertainment when I watch a DVD...
Audio is for remixing sound tracks or music tracks and at the present I'm not doing any of this ...
This card is very cool though, besides all of the nice features it takes a big load off of the CPU...
Oh and yes before I forget, as I'm running XP pro.. As you know XP Pro doesn't have the Media Center function but does have a more sensitive security application.. So this is the trade off... So now Media Center is really needed for a good home theatre setup... Well with the Creative remote control you do have the media center available with a push of a button ...
So this does give you the best of both worlds...

I think that what were actually beginning to see is the ultimate plans that ED had envisioned for their simulator ...
The ground war is actually moving closer to the forefront.. what with the introduction of these new higher Polly count vehicles...
What well most likely be able to do eventually is whole scenario of ground combat.. that will no doubt ultimately resemble an FPS like Call Of Duty ...
There have been other games that have tried to wear this uniform (so to speak) but have never been able to actually achieve this genre effectively..
Now on the other hand I can see from ED's extreme dedication and attention to detail. that they do have the expertise to finally bring a believable product to the PC..
With the release of each add on it again appears that were witnessing a closure that will give us all hours of enjoyable realism in the end...
I'd like to add just a little criticism though regarding the a few things, sorry but it's just the way that I see things ....
The soldiers driving the tanks really do need some type engine to show some personality, as it stands now they still have that 90's Flanker wax doll look.. The trees really aren't up to the standards of the rest of the game, and last but not least the buildings need some type of Architectural design to give them a uniqueness instead of just minimalistic cubism..

Well this is the ultimate but.. You really need some big bucks to do something like this ... maybe close to 5,000 USD will enable you to get this into your gaming rig but you'll still need a killer Video card set up as well ... IMHO it will take a very strong video signal to capture all of the graphics and push the signal out too all of those pixels...

Usually you can just call for an RMA... and its no question's asked...
They just take it back.... but make sure that you don't throw out any box's, adapters, manuals, etc....items that shipped with the part.. They always want this stuff back, and if its not present they can deduct it from the original price...
Now the RMA's are normally good up until 30 days from purchase...
But I've been allowed to send back hardware even after the 30 day expiration date...

I see that you've been flying VPAF from wings over Vietnam...
I like flying the Migs there myself.. Its sort of like a very early Lock ON.. but theres one thing with that sim that threw me off... Its the flight model ..
Do you by any chance have a problem with pitch ?? I seems that when I pitch the nose up or down it's not at all smooth.. The nose jumps about 2 or three degrees rather then in graduating increments..
I tried to find a fix for this in Combat Ace and posted this problem at but didn't get an answer...
I don't think that its my controller but I don't know .. I don't fly that one too much anymore because of this problem..
