I would guess that DCS-BS uses a steped detail system like most other 3d games and sims ... starts at high poly and works down to a low poly version , these should be visible at different distances so far away objects are low poly and close up its high poly . Also i think i remember seeing an object detail level setting in the graphics options , my comp isnt super fast ... its a quad Q9300 running at just shy of 2.5 with a GTS 8800/512 , the only slow down i have seen so far is on a first load as i pan around the scene .. after that its silky smooth all day

  3. Just got on the boards (first post :D) , been flying BS for a week or so now with the training wheels on :music_whistling: Love the detailing on the ground vehicles , details insane . Having done some moding for other titles in the past i inevitably end up in this thread and really have enjoyed looking at the projects people are doing . I have an interest in ground vehicles and made a few models of some British vehicles for another title , and would like to try and get them into BS , but really dont know about what formats BS uses or how to get a model rigged for the game , can anyone point me to some tutorials or perhaps just some guidlines for poly count and rigging ? Some of the models i have include the FV510 in all its past and present armour , the AS-90 and the pinzaguar light truck 4x4 and 6x6 I have seen the DCofficial model of the fv510 that ships with the game and its accurate but has a few slight differences with the current versions , in the pics the version is fitted with Wrap2 armour and also has the original Chobham style as seen during the Iraq invasion . Currently the models are aound 12k faces with 5 LOD's reducing by 50% in each LOD down to 500 faces , textures are finished with normals and specs . So how easy/hard is it to get content into the game ? thanks in advance for any replies :)
