  1. I would just like to do all the same things that my pilots did on a daily basis. Whether it is effective against the bad dudes on the ground or not. That's just me though. :)
  2. I haven't done a lot of looking into this module as far as what Polychop as said one way or another. But, if they want to be truly faithful to the airframe and its mission, they will HAVE to include firing M4 from the CPG station. It's not a technique but an actual crew task that they had to train and was included during their aerial gunnery. To prove this, you only need look no further than, TC 1-248 OH-58D Aircrew Training Manual, Task 2133 - ENGAGE TARGET WITH THE M4 SERIES CARBINE. So hopefully they take that into account when they are working on the module. Now the REAL thing that I want to see included would be tossing smoke grenades out the door to mark targets.
  3. As far as the Rockets go, I would have to go dig, but some of the earlier mods of the Mk66 and I believe the Mk40 rocket motors did have some issues with ejecting debris that could cause damage to aircraft. I know for a fact, (because I dealt with it in the OH-58D) that many of the older models of the AGM-114 (the C and I think F models) were known for the potential for ejecting debris that could and did cause damage to stabs and tail rotors. For this reason, we would mount FOD deflectors onto the back of the rails of the Hellfire Launchers. As for the rockets being more accurate on the inboard rails? That is true. However, the reason we are not authorized to put those on the inboard rails now is due to the potential for engine flameout from ingesting the motor exhaust during ripple firing. So we only put them on the outboard rails. It's not a huge potential but it's there so they don't let us do it. As for how I know? I fly them. Oh and the gun tracks head movement. It's tracking the movement of the helmet through a bunch of sensors mounted in the cockpit, not the monocle or the eye. The monocle is strictly a display for imagery and symbology.
  4. So I am curious if anyone might know if it is possible to remove models from the 3D cockpit if you were for example building a custom cockpit. Basically I want to take everything out of the cockpit view except the canopy and fuselage models for view so I can use a glass cockpit and HUD. Just curious if that's possible with lua scripting or anything like that?
  5. Yes as far as I'm aware the only systems that may still be classified is the MMS (Mast Mounted Sight) Most of the systems are somewhat dated though. I'm fairly certain however that most of the helicopters equipment could be found since there are only three weapon systems. I will have to look at the manuals and see if they are unclassified or not as far as the sight goes. Most of the manuals for the helicopter however are unclassified material since the helicopter is such and old airframe.
  6. I was going through the screen shots and noticed that the 58 is prominently displayed in several of them (much to my delight). Anyway, I am a crew chief on that particular aircraft and I just wanted to say that those models are stellar. They even captured how oily they look in real life! There are only a couple of really small things that no one but someone that works on them would notice about the model. One is the mooring rings on the bottom of the aircraft should not be there if the aircraft is going to be flying. Second, there is only one FM antenna above the cockpit (the right antenna is there, the left antenna was removed to install a small GPS antenna that looks more like a little nub). The last two are only very recent changes in the past year or so in the Weapons systems for the ejector racks. They no longer use the explosive type and now use a mechanical type. Anyway, I really love that my aircraft has actually gotten into some game. Maybe if someone feels like it (doubts it) they can go in and make some very minor changes to the model? That's all I got for the moment.
  7. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the OH-58D a flyable aircraft in a later mod. I was looking at Combat Flight Sims and dug deeper into Black Shark due to my occupation with helicopters. I saw the screen shots of the 58s flying around and it made me so immensely happy. Being a 58 Crew Chief I work on them everyday and love that aircraft to death. Looking at the models too they're spot on. Please... Someone read this that can make this suggestion to somebody...
