  1. Listen it's like 159th_Viper said, I've been a game server admin well over 10 years now, and I've seen all types of players. You get the n00b's which I classify in several ways, yes I do have a good n00b classification. A good n00b is one in which you described, that actually goes into a training server to train with other pilots, even vet pilots do this. Then there is the bad n00b this n00b is the insidious griefer. This player is so vile, they have played the game and are fairly accomplished pilots, who find themselves bored with honing their skill and find it more fun to go into a Training server expecting to ruffle a few feathers. Who knows why, angst, boredom, brain dead? Your guess is as good as mine. When that happens admins are quick to spot it and quick to react. Even though an incident may occur, a kick should not be immediately what is required to remedy the situation, benefit of the doubt sounds like it was given to the offender, you getting kick was an unfortunate circumstance of the incident, but crying foul does nothing to help the situation. Learning from the incident does, there are tons of servers, tons of places to play, good servers with good admins are rare if you find one you respect the rules, you respect the admins and other players. Follow that ideology and there are few servers you will find yourself kicked from.
  2. I'd say play a few games in another server IE don't host, if it doesn't gimbal lock on you except when you host it's bug, if it does lock up on you, it could be hardware related.
  3. You burn your own PCBs? Man am I behind the times, or I've seriously fallen out. Anyone remember when you could walk into a Radio Shack and ask the person behind the counter how to build these circuits and they could lead you to everything you needed right there in the store.
  4. I've played flight sims since the days of the TRS-80 and Chuck Yeagers ATF was the most advanced flight sim around short of something at NASA, and of all I've played Black Shark is the only one I've seen with this much control over the cockpit. Given the amount of buttons and systems you have to monitor, I would say a guy with a full pit would have a advantage over a superior pilot using nothing but standard controls. All it takes is that 2 seconds where you glance away to switch something on or off and you are done. No doubt though the simpit building is not about "hey look what I can do", building things in general is fun to do, I can tell that for some people it's more than a hobby and I both admire that and am inspired to build my own, while perhaps not as intricate, will still be very much functional. I'd like to hear some feedback from some of you pit builders on how exactly you are interfacing these boards into a pc, I've read the whole OC cards, but OC's site is still lacking in much detail other than some prefab cards. Has anyone got OH Lamps Panels in the works yet? With the scripting thing out of the way should be fairly straight forward to getting them working. For what it's worth google around there are more than enough sites to give you DIY CNC design ideas, you could probly bring a project like that home minus the motors for the stages for around $100 USD.
  5. Looking at the scripting language my guess would be that it can be used to set a device state realtime during game, and operate similar to how a mod would function.
  6. You could always try either an engraving service or a trophy making shop, I can't see em charging much to mill out some text on a panel or two for you. Pro looking results, under $20. Oakes one hell of a build, it's gorgeous. I'm also more than curious how you are interfacing the panels into BS, if I followed the thread correctly you are using OC cards for the switches, but what matrix is the controller using to interface with the pc itself. Or do the OC cards have the interface for that. I just sent off for 2 chips for the ATMega16-16 the idea being a panel based off the MJoy16 circuit design, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on that one.
  7. Last post then this thread can be closed. Resolved under Server 2008. Method used to resolve is same method used to trap and Server 2008 or Vista Stackhash exception. 1. Open your Start menu and click Control Panel 2. Browse to “System Maintenance” then “System” 3. In the left panel, select “Advanced System Settings” from the available links 4. You should now see the System Properties Window, which will have three sections. The top section is labeled “Performance” and has a “Settings” button. Click this button. 5. Select the “Data Execution Prevention” tab. 6. Select the option which reads “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select” 7. Use the “Browse” button to locate the executable file for the application you were trying to start when you received the StackHash error, and click Open to add it to your exceptions list. 8. Click Apply or OK to commit your changes. This small change it now works great under Server 2008, I added both the Launcher and DCS and the game runs flawlessly. Hope this helps someone else.
  8. Got it working on XP, turns out there was a remnant of an old driver in there, so I'm happy I can run it but it's crappy on that whimpy computer. I think I'm gonna do the secondary disk thing for my S2k8 box it has far better hardware. Appreciate the help. Happy piloting.
  9. Removed all traces of old driver, now using updated drivers still getting same Stackhash crash location. Am also using the DCSMax tool. Of note on my XP box it still crashes with updated drivers as well.
  10. Normally I don't use this rig for gaming, it was built with the purpose of work, I use it for my 3d Modelling and CGI rendering platform hence Server 2008 and 16 gigs of ram. Since I had heard so much about this game I thought I'd try it I chose this comp cause my normal game rig is 1.8 gig proc with 2 gigs ram and 256 meg GeForce FX 5700LE I didn't think it had the guts to run it. Which I was right, trying to run it on XP Pro SP3, Using those specs it throws an Opengl32.dll error whenever I run Launcher. This happens for both SP and MP. There is no hardware crippling processes running on the Server 2008 box, I have it running minimal roles currently. What I may do is install a new HD and see if I can't throw XP on there. Dual boot on this system is not an option, I'm using several 500 gig drives in a raid0 I don't want any partitioners touching that.
