The community is small, but it is very open and learning based. You can pretty much hop on any server that is populated and tell them you are just learning, most if not all will help out. Even better if you can hop onto the TeamSpeak server (if available), keep comms at a minimum and get taught by some of the best pilots in Lock On.
How I started with the A-10 was just going through the training until it was second nature, pretty much up until I was doing what I needed to do in almost a natural response mode. Go from the training to a server like the 51st or the 169th, both excellent servers for new pilots, most if not all the players on each of those servers are more than willing to help out.
