[CORRECT AS IS]Comms menu possible bug?

I'm having same problem. I just moved to HOTAS WARTHAG from 1600. The Communications always worked fine in the air or on the ground using my 1600 and one switch action to get menu. How do you transmit orders to your wingman and talk to AWACs and ATC in VR if don't use the menu??? Above answer doesn't make sense.
