  1. Just picked up a new Quest Pro and 30% of the lower screen is a brighter contrast and see a lot of pixilation going on. Is this a hardware problem or software and is there a fix or do I need to return this?
Are you using Air Link and Oculus Debug Tool?

It looks like it can be some issue with the video compression/bitrate.

Try lowering the resolution or the encoding bitrate.

Are you experiencing also broken/distorted audio?

  2. So you guys say it is not very practical other than it works?

I love it and wouldn't play dcs without it   just not for flipping the switches with fingers

If not for flipping switches, then what do you use it for?

I guess flipping switches would be what would make the main difference between using hand tracking and using only horas+mouse.

  3. VR technology is advancing very fast. There is a large premium attached to cutting edge technology. Therefore you see disparities like the $500 Quest Q3 as affordable, second tier (but still very decent) technology. And you see products like Varjo XR-4 at €10,000 if you want the full DFR and eye-tracking version. Certainly in comparison to the Varjo, Apple's Vision Pro looks to be both more impressive screen, external and internal tracking technology and more reasonable price at $3,500. (Plus it has an M2 iPad computer OS operating inside it for those that actually have a desire for that).
I am que curious about Varjo XR-4, which I will get to try most probably end of March.

I hope that they have improved the lenses and get them to at least Q3 Level. I have tried extensively the XR-3 and the lenses are way worse than the Qpro or Q3. It's are also a much older headset, of course.

I tried the AVP last week, but only for five minutes and I was not that impressed, specially by the passthrough, which is supposed to be the killer feature.

For DCS, I would be happy if we could get a Q3 with eye tracking and a display port for PCVR.

All the things that we need for the perfect 2024 PC-VR headset, are already available in the market, but not together in the same headset.

I am eager to get the first DCS users reviews of the Somnium VR1

  4. All of the new antialiasing settings and upscaling options are such blurry messes that the increase in framerates is meaningless since I can't even read my own gauges on my Quest 2. In general I seem to have gained a couple fps with MSAA as opposed to 2.8 so I'll just live with the jaggies and shimmering until the aliasing options get ironed out.
Have you also change the sharpening setting?

DLAA looks very promising. For me, it has eliminated most of the shimmering around objects and landscape. It makes the overall picture look much more natural.

very weird indeed. As you can see in the log file you are rendering 63% less pixels... so unclear why the game would be working harder. I've been adding all sorts of performance instrumentation in a new version (not published yet), once I release that you'll have to try again. I don't think anybody else has reported such issue so far, the only known performance issue is with OBSMirror and that tanks the CPU frame times, not GPU 😐

mbuccchia, thank you so much for your work. It is much appreciated!!!!

I am experimenting the same issues, with the Quad view, latest version.

I get extremely erratic fps and DCS runs smoother without it. Looking forwars for the next version to see if it solves this problem.

    here is my log

edit I have OBS installed, but it is not working

@jcenzano what software are you referring to? It seems like a good idea, especially as I also have some touchscreens from my Helios days!

I am using this software, although I am sure that there are other similar alternatives.

In fact, I do not even have the video cable of the touchscreen connected. I onlz have the USB to emulate a trackpad.

    I hope this helps

  7. I actually started out with a similar concept. I bought one of these 3D touch pads and wanted to use that to control the mouse with finger gestures: https://www.microchip.com/en-us/development-tool/DM160225
But then I found out that you could render overlays into any VR game using OpenVR and that changed everything for me!
Looking forward to seeing the progress of your concept, especially if there are no VR controllers involved.

  8. What I have found to be a compromise solution, is to have a 24"" touchscreen located where the instrument panel should be.

Before VR I used it to display instrument panels with Helios, but after switching to VR, I use a small program that converts the whole touchscreen into a big trackpad.

I can program finger gestures like one finger tap for left click, two finger tap for right click, or two finger swipe to turn rotaries left and right.

It requires a little bit of adaptation, but until a "standard" hand controlling method exists, it does the job for me.

    Sorry for the off-topic

  9. VR G2 - i9 10900k and 4090

my CPU frametimes have been dramatically reduced!!! I was not expecting such a huge improvement in CPU frametimes

need to do further testing, but as an example in the Hornet "ready on the ramp" caucasus missions I have gone from around 20ms CPU time frame to 5-6.

    Amazing!!!

I am sure that there will be bugs and glitches that will need polishing with time, but the impact of MT is very impressive.

    Good job!!

  10. CASA AVIOCAR C212
This little and cheap transport has it's own  history with military spanish aviation and was exported to some different countries.
    +1 yo the Aviocarro

I know Aerges are a Spanish developer… but have they indicated that they intend to restrict themselves to Spanish built or operated aircraft???
Plenty of other interesting European aircraft to bring into DCS…

  11. For whatever reason ED banned him a while back, another case of a 3rd party creating something great only to be denied and not implemented by ED themselves. We need non-blurry, easily scaled viewport and instrument exports for pit builders.

    Thanks for the info.

Too bad ED is so short-sighted regarding this.

  12. Well, it's looks like this program is pretty much dead...

Too bad. It's looked very promising and it could be a very useful tool for out builders...
