Love the new sound with my logitech surround headphones. I like the new cannon sounds too I sat there just firing all my ammo :)

Logitech G35's by any chance? Would be comforting to know that it sounds nice through them seeing as I've still yet to get the patch. If so, how is the bass ( especially on the cannon )?

  2. Enhanced DOF could really help with the look inside the pit.

Maybe, but it might not work well in this sim. There is no way the sim can tell what your eyes are focused on so it will more than likely blur things that you need to see. For example I can't see them applying DOF over the gauges or on the outside of the pit.

One place I can see it working well though is using the F7 view since the vehicle is always central, might even work in the F2 & F3 views also and even in the free cam view when you lock a vehicle or aircraft, that would put a smile on movie makers faces.

  3. Have you turned on the nose gear steering with the "insert" key?

Nose wheel steering is engaged but I am having no luck. I can see that the flaps are moving and the joystick is moving about, but the aircraft does not move left or right.

He said so in his original post. I also think it may be resolved now.

  4. Wing's don't usually just break unless your severely overloading them so I don't think that was a failure. I usually only get CADC, GCAS and HUD failures. Believe it or not with birds set at 100% and probably over 150 hours of flying I've never had a bird strike. They used to be pretty common back in FC2.

The birds are probably too scared of receiving a swift burst from the GAU.

  5. Not real familiar but as I understand it, TACVIEW runs in the background while you are flying a mission and that is where it gets its data. When you set it up it adds an export function into the sim, similar to what Helios does to get live data as it happens.

That is most of what I know about it!

You are correct, I remember reading that somewhere. Sometimes I wonder if I even have a brain :music_whistling:.

  6. Where do I find the ACMI files? I have TACVIEW but I just dont know how to use it.

I've never used it but I assume TacView takes a regular track file that you have saved. You should find your tracks here 'C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\Tracks'.

  7. Ranger, I gotta say that I can't wait to have the kinda fun you are having with your wingma(e)n, but I won't subject anyone to my lack of skills...yet... Tho I'd like to try out TARS with a fellow newbie.

I am learning slowly from re-reads, and your, and Tyger's(your explanatory button by button exposition is wonderful, but you need to normalize your audio) and excessiveHeadspace's superlative videos.

I have had Fraps since it's inception, and I noticed a folder in A-10 called movies....how the hell did Y'all get such superb video WITHOUT using Fraps during flight or on a .Trk playback.

...I would use the latter to keep up the "movie's" framerate...

Is there another, better frame grabber?

    Please advise.

    Thanks guys!

    Chas

You can use the in-game AVI Recorder which will render at any FPS you desire. The problem with using this at the moment is it records from a track and as you know the tracks can be buggy. This is why we have the movies folder.

  8. If you don't have a Thustmaster HOTAS, you are at a distinct disadvantage. This is the biggest obstacle I had/have. I have a TM Afterburner and it does not have the 50+ buttons of the A10C HOTAS. The manuals and tutorials all call for TM HOTAS buttons - Sometimes giving the keyboard equiv, sometimes not. Sometimes explaining what the HOTAS button does, sometimes not. Many of the HOTAS buttons functions are not entirely clear even when looking at the mapping in the manual. I wrote down the keyboard mapping for all HOTAS buttons and what they do or print our that section of the manual.

I'd have to disagree as I used to regularly switch between using my TM Cougar and my Cyborg X. I honestly don't notice a difference but that's because I've properly mapped my cheap stick so it's got everything I need including multiple hats bound to the same hat switch. The only thing missing really on the cheap stick is a nice switch for the speed brakes that the Cougar has. Now I don't even bother with my TM Cougar, not worth the setup hassle and I'm going to sell it.

A lot of people have flown with a HOTAS for so long they can't remember what a properly mapped cheap stick is like. I had the advantage to chop and change since I didn't always have the time to set the Cougar up on the desk. Using the cheap stick I only use the mouse to flick switches and I only use the keyboard for slew to SPI, selecting the SOI, flaps and gear.

There are many people around who also fly with a budget stick and have no problems.

  9. Mallet;1203320']Just hope the dude that preaching the end of the world on saturday is not correct :megalol:

Meh it's a load of old ... anyways. How many times have we lived through what was meant to be the end of the world?

I'm glad they're holding off on the patch, not many dev's do that these days. They substitute payed testers with the customer and I'm glad ED isn't like that.

  10. Manual lasing comes in handy when you want to make your mark points on a target more accurate (many threads on CCIP / CCIP, markpoints, etc) and as mentioned previously, buddy lasing.

This is correct, forgot to mention in my other post that I will give the laser key a split second tap to get accurate ranging for a dumb CCRP release and marking points.

  11. The Soft option was supposed to be the same as the Beta HDR, but I didn't finish in time to get it into the patch. The new HDR mod of the new HDR options will have the Soft option back to the Beta HDR as well as improving the NORMAL and HARD settings. But it is all subjective to be honest, you may prefer the version that shipped with 1.1.0.8.

    Nate

Sounds good to me, I've still got the old HDR file but it's on disc and I haven't got around to getting it onto my pc again. Love the blurriness of the beta HDR though, not realistic but I liked how it looked and really miss it.

From what you said I take it you've done the work yourself, if that's the case then thank you.

    Is patch coming today?

I doubt anyone can say for sure, the installer reached the testers the other day so it shouldn't be long at all. They are known for creeping things up on us though :).

  12. I would like to jump in but my skill level with this mod leaves a lot to be desired. lol

If your talking about TAR's then it's not as bad as you may think. If you can use the radios in single player in advanced mode then you won't have a problem. If your flying online with only a few people it's even easier since you don't need to juggle frequency's, just tune your UHF and select the UHF radio using the TAR's hotkey and transmit as you would normally in teamspeak.

  13. Thanks for the reply, is it easy to down grade.

Never done it myself, I'm just waiting for the next version of TAR's, don't suppose it will take long. It should just be as simple as removing the current install and installing the last version. I'd recommend that you backup your teamspeak identity though, you can export it through Settings->Identities and you can also import it that way.

The backup may not be necessary but I'd back it up in case the removal gets rid of it. Your identity has a unique code that links your permissions on teamspeak servers to yourself, if you create a new one you won't have the permissions you usually have on teamspeak.

Sorry OP, back on topic now: Very nice videos, man CB nearly blew my ear drums  had to knock the volume down.
