  1. I didn't expect it to be that bad, you put bulletproof glass on a damned car and then you leave the pilots of an attack helicopter with no protection... except from the wind...

I found this, which shows the cockpit armor, all in all it looks much more vulnerable than I thought it was:

    http://apachehelicopter.tpub.com/TM-1-1520-238-10/css/TM-1-1520-238-10_054.htm

Doesnt look too vulnerable, you'd have to be an exceptionally lucky shot to hit a target that small that wasnt armor plated.

  2. Which gunner position are you trying to load into? Copilot gunner, or door gunners? Because copilot gunner is 2...and you arent pressing the right keys if you are using the number key pad on the right hand side of your keyboard. Also, make sure door gunners are actually loaded before trying to select them.

  3. You can assign the different route modes and waypoint advancing to a rocker switch. There really isnt any conflicts between the two, as the selected waypoint will remain stored in memory until you advance to the next waypoint regardless of which submode you are in.

  4. For ordering stock PTFE rings, just PM me and I will send you the info. for ordering.

As to making thicker PTFE ring twice as thick as the original Warthog ring... the original Warthog O-ring is about 1.56mm thick. The stock PTFE ring is 3.175mm (1/8" thick), slightly more than 2x as thick already.

Or do you mean that you want one that is 1/4" thick? I am not entirely sure if that will fit inside the Warthog without interfering with the upward movement of the spring piston platform. If your purpose is to have more spring force... I'd suggest making some steel rings and put them at the end of the main spring. Don't put it at the platform end. The platform has a groove to center the spring so the spring does not chafe against the platform wall. If machining a steel ring is a problem for you.... A hackish way of doing it is to take a steel wire (or bronze/brass wire you commonly find in HomeDepot for tying brushes in your garden), bend it into a ring of exactly the same diameter of the main spring, hammer it slightly flat, then use some tie wire to attach it to the end of the main spring. But I will not suggest welding/brazing the new ring to the main spring... it's kind of irreversible with welding/brazing, and the welding/brazing heat might affect the tamper of the spring...

Just the O ring gasket, the rubber seal. Mine came loose one day and from time to time it works itself out. I molykoted the crap out of it and it stays put most of the time now. I realized that this thing should be thicker than it actually is now, it helps tighten up the stick. I like a tight stick...

  5. Then it is still unclear to me what you are talking about in post #5

Dev posted the link above. However, this will not fix the landing gear. This is just a mod to use the F-18 with the F-15 cockpit. Its this particular mod I was referring to when it comes to the landing gear not being inside the wheel bays when retracted.

  6. Ive seen video of people landing their A-10C on the KC-135 while it was flying. Of course you can land the A-10 on the carrier, it just requires a bit of finesse, max forward speed for the carrier, and a strong headwind.

  7. Hmm, let me see...

    - The Gunship in question is an AH-1W without external weapons

    - I didn't load anything with weapons, the mission creator did

I kinda think we're not on the same page any longer. :music_whistling:

And while I don't necessarily disagree with you, I think that you're talking about stuff that has little to do with my request towards wolle. So we should either get back on topic or maybe start a new discussion in "Missions and Campaigns" or "Military and Aviation". :smilewink:

My bad, got a little carried away there..I havent flown the campaign yet.

  8. I guess it depends on the scenario and the mission planner's intentions.

I'm not quite sure what the gunship did in this mission. As I remember it, the gunship just flew all across town while I dropped off the troops on a rooftop. So without an LZ to hammer prior to landing, it would make more sense for him to cover my slick while I deploy troops instead of alerting every wanna-be terrorist to our arrival by poking holes in the sky minutes before I'm even there. :)

But even in a Vietnam scenario, I think the gunships didn't usually arrive way ahead of the slicks, because they could never be sure they'd hit all of the enemy troops, so basically their job was to keep the enemy's heads down, which meant rocket runs prior to drop-off and possibly gun-runs while the slicks were most vulnerable.

But most of all my comment was aimed at the fact that I had to rejoin with the gunship that I was supposed to follow. Seeing as we're supposed to fly along together, I think it doesn't make much sense for the gunship to just fly off in the first place.

The mission area was pretty small in that mission, so it's not a big deal. I just think it would be nicer of the gunship waited for the player, and if it's a minor edit, I think that would be a nice additional touch to an already good mission.

Well, the reason being is because those gunships are heavy. They wont be able to keep up with you if they are weighed down with weapons. You get either a gunship to prep the LZ (rockets and miniguns), or a gunship as an escort (gunship with doorgunners only), or CAS. You really shouldnt load an aircraft with 4 miniguns and rocket pods if you want to take off.
