  1. It's not just for DCS, I use Arma 3 and CLOD a fair bit too. I've always stuck with AMD and haven't got a clue about intel.

I hope AMD can continue Strong. For DCS you should go with an Intel build. I know it sucks, more money but its worth it. Im getting along just fine for my needs and my computer is 15 months old. i2500k and use a ssd cache drive and a p8z68 at least. FLYS!

  2. Forgot to add that I have a Nvidia gt260 graphics card.

A 4870 would be good on paper, its a 256 bit bus card too but I had one and you need a good 700 watt PSU. Look on AMD website. They list what PSU units are certified to run with any ATI video card. Thats simply a must!

    http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-4000/hd-4870/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-4870-system-requirements.aspx

You could go see what kind of bang you can get for lower power from Nvidia. I left ATI. Several here did. The multi monitor crap with them was nuts. Poor drivers.

  3. I voted No because Vietnam would be too one sided and unbelievable.

The World War 2 era would be more fun and richer experience.

Other than that Id say stick to modern jets.

  4. CPU. In my view it's quite a waste of money to run a modern Intel CPU at stock frequencies.Win7 x64 | 2 120 Gb SSDs |i5 2500K @ 4.5 GHz | 8 GB RAM | GTX 580 | |2 120 Hz 22'' monitors | TM Warthog HOTAS | Saitek pedals | TIR5

This Corrigan config or my config will get you into a sweet spot.

  5. Nobody is saying it doesn't work. Most people don't use the auto overclock due to it usually setting the voltages way too high. My board for example set CPU voltage at 1.4v for 4.4ghz. In the south Texas winters I run 4.8ghz at 1.35v. In the summer i bump it down at 4.6ghz at 1.3v. At 4.4ghz I was stable at around 1.26v. Long story short an auto overclock will increase wear and tear along with shortening lifespan.

I don't think that is true anymore at least not in my recent experience or what I have seen. I ran a 600 MHz manual overclock on the old Q6600 2.4 ghz Cpu I had in a ASUS Maximus board for four years rock solid. I sold it to a friend and its on its 5th year still rock solid. 5 years is a long time on a 600 MHz overclock running 24/7. Then again I buy motherboards around the $250 price range and there is a diff. I think that helps, I also think the hardware can just take it more than we used to.

  6. Bought a system with a ASUS X79 Pro Motherboard. It has built in interface that with a few mouse clicks will overclock your system automatically to a stable state,It's brilliant!!! Basically takes all the Math/guess work out of overclocking. I Highly recommend it if you are building a new rig and don't know a whole lot about overclocking or are afraid to.

Hey OP this is the wrong place to post this stuff. Its a great place to see what people are doing against heavy software like DCS but most will not want to admit this it true. The ASus automatic overclocking works!!!!!!! I started Overclocking computer with the first overclockers motherboard made by overclockers in 2000 the Iwill xp333r . Boys and girls, this is where it all started http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=930 I spent a couple years with others in the forums pushing this boards to the max with latest xp 1700 and 2100 old procs. Those were the days.

Then came automatic overclocking software. Its was shit!! Didn't work. A lot of people were using it to run benchs and brag but it didn't run 24/7.

So the short story is automatic overclocking does work now these days with these ASUS boards for sure! My system is 13 months old and auto overclocked to 4.4 ghz with the mem setting set at the XMS 1600 profile. My system eats DCS no problem. Any other bravado or money spent is simply just that.

  7. So

If you have BS1 and BS2 upgrade and you want to get BS into DCS world......now is a safe time to do so ?

If so... I understand that I should install BS 1 and run the upgrade from there? Not sure what the upgrade path should be ?

    First install BS1 and activate

Then install BS 2 Upgrade and activate

Then let DCS World upgrade as needed.

    Is that right ? !!

  8. Mine runs DCS flawlessly and its a year old. I have the z68 he was going to get. The i2500k eats DCS no problem. Esp mine at 4.4 ghz it is an easy task to run this game and I run it with graphics setting maxed out on a sony 32 inch tv. . I hate to dampen tweakers spirits but it really is that good for me. HDD power is what you need now, I have that covered too. With an ssd accelerated raid o , I have no performance problems.

  9. Not sure whats going on but I spent enough time on it. I am new to the f15 and have been watching all the videos and things. As I change through the modes I cannot get a missle to launch, just guns . Even selecting the 7 or 120 in whatever mode= no go. All i get are guns. even if I have not selected (2 C I ) or whatever button for the guns.

I dont have this problem in the Russian Planes. Its such a laugh, I thought I would ask here!

  10. cockpit camara move up move down move left and move right

Do I understand? Dpad on joystick does that. Im getting track IR5 , with the new Doh6 , its even more worth it.

Looking at the posts here in this thread, you might be going into the complex before you know the basic. You might want to start over...

ok, 6 hours of experiments, the result:

a very strange looking setup, but working extremely well. check the ingame cockpit stick responding 1:1 to your input.

    Logitech Profiler settings

    Stick:

    X and Y Axis Properties

    Sensitivity 0%

    Dead Zone 0%

    Range 30% !!!

    Specific Game Settings

    Overall Effects Strength 100%

    Spring Effects Strength 50%

    Damper Effects Strength 50%

    Centering Spring 0% unchecked

don't forget to unplug and replug the usb connection of the G940, to make shure the new settings are applied.

    DCS Black Shark

    Axis Tune Panel

    Deadzone 0

    Saturation y and X 100

    Curvature -100 !!!

    Force Feedback Tune Panel

    Trimmer Force 100

    Shake 0

before starting to fly, quickly unpause and pause the game, then move all inputs (throttle, pedals, stick) to the maximum and minimum to make shure BS gets the calibration of all the inputs.

Hey thats a really nice setting. I like that one even better. I had to turn down the overall effects strength to 75 because it was a little too stiff for me at 100 but every thing else is real nice. Good job on that find.

    Rep up +1.

  11. On the p8z68 MB it required ram with 1.5 volts. NON Higher . You will want to check on that spec.

Also consider the risk of an SSD dying in 6 month that has your main OS. Since your buying 6GB Harddrives you could RAID 1 and get a 64gb ssd and deploy the INTEL SRT giving you SSD performance on a reliable mechanical drive.

You would need to change the drives to RAID Edition 5 year warranty drives though.

Iff an SSD dies in srt cache then it doesn't cause any harm. I still don't trust SSD drives to hold main OS. Still have to back up the c partition.
