Hi Baltic Dragon,
Just finished the campaign so here are a few thoughts on it.
First of all despite any "negative" comment that I may write hereafter, take it only as room for improvement, my global opinion is that it was a great campaign, as were Caucasus and the very short Coup d'Etat. I really felt part of a story, you make it live and it is really amazing to play. I remember the Georgian Hammer A-10C campaign a few years ago that felt very empty and just like a series of missions without a storyline.
The tons of voiceovers make it feel so real, great.
A few remarks though :
- In the briefing, you could give the QNH in hPa, it would avoid having to make the conversion from inHg before setting the altimeter,
- In the CSAR mission briefing (M12) you could clarify the DRYAD explanation. As many, I understood it the wrong way and your posts in the forum made it clearer, you could include those explanations in the briefing (how to choose the correct row for set numbers). Btw that mission was the best for me, poor weather condition, QRA, finding the guy, dodging a few R27 before shooting down the Fulcrums, it was intense.
- Speaking of mission 12, I would have let Max in the desert a few more days if I could. Honestly, it was fun in the beginning but after like 2 or 3 missions the character became a bit annoying to me, like overacting being the funny guy. No big deal though, and thanks to all the people giving their voices to the campaigns.
- Missions are long and complex, it feels realistic but the issue is that with this infinitely dumb AI you sometimes have to start again a mission from the begining after 1h30 of flight just because your dumb ally crashed into a moutain or dropped his GBUs 1 mile away from the laser spot (when he manages to spot ground targets, and when the JTAC doesn't lases sand instead of a vehicle !), so in the end you have to go with guns and mess with outrageously lethal Gazelles. Several times I wished there was some way to respawn just before entering the AO and avoid having to start again from the parking and do all the Sally corridor procedure etc. I know there is not much you can do about that :/.
- More ground pounding please ? ok just kidding it's the 2000C I know.
In the end, thank you for your work, I'd say I prefered Caucasus campaign because of the scenario, you feel part of something strange happening far from home, and hope that cavalry with come soon, reminds me of Operation Flashpoint 20 years ago lol. But Red Flag was more advanced on procedures, and variety of missions.
Damn I love the Mirage.
