I've been trying to buddy lase for a friend, but not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I set up a laser code 1688. I lock a target with the TGP so that the target is point tracked. I click AUTO, which switches the mode to MAN. Normally I should see the laser code flashing together with some other text on the bottom of the TGP, but nothing seems to happen.

Decided to try using my own GBU-12s with the AUTO lasing.

Switching back to AUTO. I try to use my GBU-12s. Doing the exact same thing, point track a target, fly the CCRP drop queue, drop bomb, laser turns on and bomb goes exactly on target.

After the bomb hit, I checked to see if MAN lasing now works.

I click AUTO again to go back to MAN lasing, I see the flashing laser code and other text at the bottom of the TGP as it should be.

It seems to be working sometimes, but not all the time. Any idea what is causing this?

You have the laser designate key under bound?

There isn't one AFAIK?? Switching AUTO to MAN fires the laser.

That isn't my experience...

Which key is it? I already have the HOTAS mapped.

It is not assigned a default key, you have to go in to control menu and manually assign it, it is not on HOTAS AFAIK, I don’t know if it’s a real switch or not but it turns the laser on and off

Hmm. AFAIK that isn't correct.

I'll test here later.

Whether it’s correct or not there is a laser designate control that turns the laser off and on and it has no default keyboard binding. Not saying it’s real, just that it’s there and that’s what it does:) I don’t know how MAN is suppossed to work in other aircraft, but if you have problems with the laser that key binding gives you full manual control

Unless it all changed in an update.....

Before the latest update I tried buddy lasing with another JF-17. All we did was set AUTO to MAN.

If it's now required to activate the laser via a non-HOTAS bind, it suggests something became broken in the last update.

I'm away from my sim rig for a few days. I'll be able to try it next week.
