Helicopter CAS..sad to watch

I don't know what's wrong.

But all missions I create having a helo performing CAS they just endlessly circle around somewhere near the targets..if lucky manage to fire of a single Vikhr or couple rockets during 30min of flying. (Opposed to when I put in a Su-25T, which kills the whole group on one approach)

If there is some kind of air defence in place good if they even go close. Mountainous terrain makes it totally impossible

I feel bad for the ground troops under attack..

I saw this often until I learned how to create zones and use the rules of engagement. If you don't then they just fly to a point, search a very small default radius and then leave. With the zones you can have them fly to a location and then search and destroy a much larger area. I have done this and after sending flight of Cobras, left nothing for myself LOL.

I experimented with this a bit today and my helos also act weired. "Search and Engage in Zone" did not help much, either.

I had a 3 ship flight of ... whatever, Ka-28, Ah-1, Ah-64, and all act similar: at the initial roll in, every helo fires one, at most 2 missiles, then turn about to re-positining themselfs. 1 of 3 does that about properly and is able to shoot again. The remaining 2 seem to want to turn in on the target again, but only for a fraction of a second, turn to the opposite direction instead and keep on flying a few hundret feet and then try it again. Then it all starts over. Those 2 helos try and try and try ... and thus slowly circle around the targets.

The distance to the target differs (in this case T-72) and is well out of reach of the targets MGs. I don't know why the helos turn away immediately. Seems as if they try to maintain some (weired) sort of minimum distance, but can't manage to align themselfs properly because of their silly maneuvering which leads them alway too close to the target again. Maybe it would work if they would either turn harder when maneuvering or fly further out for the next roll in attempt.

Well I have assigned them to 'Attack Group'.

Yes this is exactly what I'm having. With a single Mi-8, Single Mi-28N, single Mi-24V and pair of Ka-50 that I tried so far. Worst beeing the Mi-24 that did not fire offf a single weapon in 20min.
