David OC
Not a technical test with stats, a playability test and to get some sort of baseline. I have wanted to jump back in the Ka-50 in VR and see if it was possible to play through the campaign now in DCS 2.5 with the new updated map. 7700K @ 4.9 MHz 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3466Mhz M.2 NVMe SSD Asus Rog Maximus IX Hero Motherboard GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8G (Stock Clock) DCS is running on the M.2 with Win 10 at the moment. All drivers are fully up to date, Nvidia, BIOS, M.2 NVMe SSD I spent the extra on the MB tying in the expensive CPU and expensive RAM in nicely together, I believe this has helped, I have never experienced any continuous shuttering in VR or on a Monitor. DCS Pre set VR option selected in the menu screen Gamma @ 2.0 Rift PD @ 1.5 I used Action screen recording software to record this quick flight in VR, this would also use up some resources also. https://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html DCS Ka-50 Campaign mission flown C?:Program FilesEagle DynamicsDCS WorldModsaircraftKa-50MissionsCampaigns Selected DCS Ka-50 Campaign mission (ATO-A-P3.1.miz) Unit total 168 Vehiches 151 Warning MA15+ Ka-50 was extremely destroyed in this video lol I think I had every single gun firing at me… This is VR playable in 2.5 on these settings and can hold 45 fps most of the time, it’s a lot smoother when trying to play a mission this large in VR now in 2.5. If you have the Ka-50, I would like to see the playability results you get with your system with this large mission. No need to record, just see how well it handles this mission with your specs, so others here can compare. David OC
Is this with any MSAA? No MSAA, DCS default VR selected for the base test. PD 1.5 a good decent (For the res we have) balanced picture. I could possibly turn up the Terrain Textures etc?, It's still very playable and looks good enough to me, that is what I was going for here (balance), to see if I could start the Ka-50 campaign with missions like this with over 150 units with the 1070 and holding around 45 FPS with no stutter.
