EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) Please read this sticky: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 Also, prepare a DxDiag file and attach it here and it'll be easier to spot anything that might be causing the issue. EDIT Here's two links to threads on the same subject, if you are lucky they might contain a solution for you: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40601&highlight=loading+time http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=41547&highlight=loading+time Edited December 2, 2009 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester

EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Below the quick reply box you have a "go advanced" thing. Go in there. Then click the paperclip and upload the text file as an attachement. EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 One of the threads I linked talks about an application named "cacheman". It seems it did solve a similar issue for another individual, but not for everyone. Worth a look though. You could also investigate your cache settings, since that also came up in one of those threads. On your DxDiag it looks like you have two SCSI drives. Are those actually SCSI or are they SATA? (Since SATA sometimes ends up showing as SCSI.) There might be a driver issue causing issues when DCS wants to read files necessary to start up the simulation. zella69 Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 but i was looking at the dxdiag file and i was seeing alot of stuff like this Key 'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Direct3D\Drivers\Direct3D HAL' is missing is this normal?
EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Well, this here from your DxDiag file is interesting: ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found. Display Tab 1: Problems were found in the system registry. Details are available in the saved text file. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version. Display Tab 2: Problems were found in the system registry. Details are available in the saved text file. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version. Sound Tab 1: No problems found. Sound Tab 2: No problems found. Music Tab: No General MIDI DLS file was specified in the registry. Input Tab: Problems were found in the system registry. Details are available in the saved text file. Network Tab: The registry information for the service provider 'Internet TCP/IP Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX. The registry information for the service provider 'IPX Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX. The registry information for the service provider 'Modem Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX. The registry information for the service provider 'Serial Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged. You should reinstall DirectX. You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version. On my machine it looks like this: ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ Display Tab 1: No problems found. Sound Tab 1: No problems found. Sound Tab 2: No problems found. Sound Tab 3: No problems found. Input Tab: No problems found. So it definitely looks like you have issues in your system. It might be remnants of old drivers when you have updated, corrupt DirectX install. I'd recommend using this software: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/ It helps ensure that drivers are maintained properly. zella69 Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 wow yeah i see ima download it and see what it will do :)
EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Yeah, I found a lot of places in there with notes about registry entries missing. Now, I don't know if any of these are actually causing the long loading times (it's a problem that has been very hard to nail down conclusively), but it's definitely worth ensuring that your system is healthy before trying to dig into a complex issue. zella69 Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 oh defiantley im heavily considering a full format and reinstalling windows just takes so much time to get back up to date
EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 That might be an "easy" way to sort that out, yeah. :P If you decide to go for that option, do remember to de-activate your DCS installation first. This allows you to ensure that you won't lose an activation because of this. Also, if you do so, do let us know how that affected the loading issue. zella69 Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 lol yeah very true but cant find the freaking packet with my cd key :(
EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Ouch, that's a good thing to have. I take it you bought the DVD version then and not the download version? The latter allows you to retrieve your key through the DCS website, but in the case of the DVD version the packaging is probably best kept in safe storage. EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Oh, doh, yeah. I don't recall what the procedure is in XP, but in Vista I can retrieve my key in this way: Start Control Panel System and Maintenance System It is then listed at the bottom of the page under the heading Windows Activation. I'll go find my XP netbook and see what it looks like in there. EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I just verified it, I can see the key for my windows through a similar route in XP. It's not an english language install though but it wouldbe under System Properties, and the General tab. zella69 Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 sweet :) well with that ima just pop my vista disk in and go with that os!
EtherealN Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I would definitely recommend Vista, yeah. It's much better at handling multicore processors and therefore gives a very tangible performance boost in DCS.
