Tangolima600 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Hey Cougar owners, I noticed that the free play at the center point of the stick is becoming a nuisance. I read the post on Cougarworld about fixing the problem and after some experimenting with gluing parts of a thick zip tie to the pitch gimbals, hasn't solved too much. I feel that the only way to fix the issue is to replace the framework the stick is in. Any suggestions to fix the problem? Thanks!
BaD CrC Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Hall sensors mod.... Expensive. Very expensive. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Tangolima600 Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 That's what I was afraid of... :( The only situation where the play becomes an issue is when in a SU35 landing on a carrier (spent 5+ hours of nonstop practice landings before finally getting it ok... lots of headaches but learned a whole lot... just wished Russians had flight point indicators like NATO birds) Nice pit BTW, you've redefined the word envy!
Triggerhappy69 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Hall sensors mod.... Expensive. Very expensive. I dissagree..:music_whistling: I modded my cougar after these french How-To's from Check Six Forum (excellent french flightsim forum) Using Honeywells hall effect sencors that cost 7.94kr (1Euro) each and some magnets from the local hardware store I think the complete hall effect mod (all axis) cost me a grand total of next to nothing.. (Pictures from www.sukhoi.ru forum) If you search the VVS504th Squadrons forum I think you might still find the thread where I show how I did it... Downloads of the french docs telling you how to here: http://www.4shared.com/document/NiYf8DPA/Cougar_Throttler_Hall_effect.html http://www.4shared.com/photo/q5np4WRj/hallss49xx2vo9.html http://www.4shared.com/document/cxgO_csR/Sonde__effet_hall_perso.html It's really a lot easyer than you think, and the difference in accuracy is just... stunning..! Triggerhappy69 Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 The only situation where the play becomes an issue is when in a SU35 landing on a carrier I recomend making a joystick extension and combining it with a hall effect mod... It makes flying so much more precise when you really need it.. Your stick motion become less jerky when under stress, simply because the amound of physical movement required to "jerk your bird arround" is more obvious.. Or at least that is what it did to me... Extending the cougar is also quite simple when you know that the threads on the cougar handle are the same as most garden-hose fittings... And the extension cable is basicly an old keyboard extension cable.. "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
