Hey! I just picked up blackshark 2 and its awesome, however really difficult when first starting off! I am currently using a logitech 3d extreme pro joystick.

Im trying to bind the collective (flight control collective) to my joysticks slider where the throttle would normally be when flying airplanes. However while its bound it doesnt effect my collective at all and I still need to use my keyboard to modify my collective which sucks. Does anyone have any idea or suggestions of what to do?

Also I am trying to bind other things to my joystick and its just not working, like I am trying to bind the trimmer to button 3 on my joystick and when confirming the input it doesnt show up on the list after accepting.

Does your joystick work at all? Have you tried other games or the windows control panel?

And if "yes", you mapped the controls for the correct layer AND for the correct controller (= column) in DCS?

Yeah it works fine for A10c, and when I go to map the buttons i can just press the key I want to map it to and it will automatically select it, which tells me the button works fine.

And yes I am mapping in the column for my joystick.

Hey,

on my Logitech 2.4GHz Freedom stick the collective is called "Slider1", you might wanna check if that's an option to get it working

What exactly did you do here? I assume, you went to Options->Controls, selected the correct layer, double clicked at the cell for INS Collective / Trimmer and you controller. The dialog "Add Assignment Panel" came up and you pressed button 3 and "JOY_BTN3" was entered as "Key / Button" ("Added Modifier" remained empty). Then you clicked "Ok" and the dialog was closed. Then you checked again INS Collective / Trimmer for your controller, but there was no button assignment.

Is that correct?

Please do that once more, best if you do that directly after you started a new, fresh DCS. Then go to C:\Users\<username>\Saved Games\DCS\Logs and upload the file DCS.log here as an attachment (you might have to rename the file to .TXT to get it uploaded here).

I suspect that the file, where the control assignmens are saved, can't be (over-)written by DCS and if that is the case, this should be logged in the DCS.log file as an error.

When trying to assign the trimmer to JOY_BTN3 this is the case, however when assigning JOY_SLIDER1 to Flight Control Collective in the KA-50 Sim AXIS ASSIGN location it remains there after accepting the key binding however does not effect my collective while playing when moving the slider.

I just started the game up and did what you said, the file came out as me.log, and its from 5 minutes ago, however I have a DCS.log that I have also uploaded from me playing about an hour ago incase that also helps.

Yeah, at the end of the me.log you can see several error messages. I am by no means a LUA expert, but I interprete this as that DCS has troubles adding a new key combination ("combo"; see the error msgs) as the existing data (i.e. existing key mappings) are somehow broken.

My suggestion now would be that you delete the existing mappings. DCS then will re-create default mappings when you start DCS the next time - hopefully then changing and adding your assignmens will work again.

To delete the existing mappings, rename the folder C:\Users\<user name>\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\ka-50\ to something different (to keep a backup - just in case). This will reset all your mappings for the BS. You could try to just delete (rename) the controller specific files (i.e. C:\Users\<user name>\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\ka-50\joystick\<your controller>.lua), but perhaps it is better to start completely from scratch here.
