Reading about HRTF (true positional audio on stereo headphones using in-game positional data, not some gimmicks) I started reading more about it. While lurking through the internet I stumbled upon this

Now, as you may know most games require high degree of pre-baking done to your sounds, e.g. a game will not simulate how an engine sounds when occluded by the fuselage.

 

I'm not an expert on the subject but I think this tool may come in handy.
