CypherGrunyev Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Will the Exocet be modeled into the Mirage 2000? I'd really love to take on the Russian CV's... And their Destroyers... Also general weapons on the Mirage? Can you tell us all of the planned weaponry to be put on it? Thanks Man I could really use a navigator right about now. i7-3770K @ Stock MSI GD-65 Z77 Mobo G.Skill Ripjaws Z [16GB] @ 2133 Mhz AMD Radeon HD 7950 [sapphire Tech] @ 1150/1600 Mhz OCZ Vector 256GB [C:/] Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB @ 5900RPM [D:/] Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB @ 7200 [E:/] Western Digital Blue 1TB @ 7200 [H:/] Corsair AX850 PSU Corsair 650D Case [so Sexy <3]
VincentLaw Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) We are doing the Mirage 2000C (S-5) which has the RDI radar. Don't get it confused with the Mirage 2000-5, that is an entirely different aircraft. This Mirage is basically an AA interceptor, with very limited AG capabilities. It has the classic cockpit look with FBW abilities. The RDI is an air to air specialist radar, unlike the RDM and RDY which are multirole. The fact that he said "limited AG capabilities" rather than "no AG" implies that we will have some ground attack weapons available. I don't think the Exocet works with the RDI though. Upgrades includes the addition of the Non-Cooperative Target Recognition (NCTR) mode to the RDI Radar to allow identification of airborne targets not responding on IFF, integration for the Matra MICA IR heat-seeking missile, and the ability to carry air-to-ground stores such as Matra 68 mm rocket pods (18 each), Mk 80 series or French 250, 400, and 1000 kg iron bombs, and cluster bombs such as the Belouga or non-French models. I have also read that the Magic II is designed to the same launcher specifications as the AIM-9, and that the AIM-9 is compatible with the 2000C, so I would expect the following: 2x 30 mm DEFA 554 internal cannons maybe a DEFA 554 centerline gunpod Matra 68 mm rocket pods (HE/HEAT/Frag/Flechette/smoke/illumination/training) Mk82/Mk83/Mk84/BDU50/BDU56 French 250 kg/500 kg/1000 kg iron bombs Belouga (cluster bomb) BAP-100 (anti runway) AS-37/ARMAT (ARM) ? Super 530 MICA IR Magic-II AIM-9 Smoke generators 3 external fuel tanks (1300 L/1700 L) The radar jammer is built into the airplane so it doesn't get a pod. jojo Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Most of the weapon you request was never used on Mirage 2000 C RDI (French)... And for fuel-tanks French Air Force use 1300 L/ 2000 L. What you request is a mix of Mirage 2000 E (EG+H). As far as I know AS-37 Martel (ARM) was only hunged under early Mirage 2000 C RDM for Marketing purpose...In FAF it was Jaguar's mission. I never saw Sidewinder and Mica IR on 2000 C either :smilewink: Mirage fanatic ! VincentLaw Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Most of the weapon you request was never used on Mirage 2000 C RDI (French)...It was more of a guess list than a request. The stuff in my post was just drawn from various web sources with questionable credibility after about an hour of searching. Many people are under the impression that the Mirage 2000C RDI has no air to ground capability, and it can be difficult to find good information, but I have evidence that the RDI was developed with ground attack capability in mind. I am more interested in what the airplane is technically capable of than what the French actually equipped it with. Since the French have the D, they generally have no need of loading bombs on the C model, but we will not have a D, so it will be nice to have something to fill the gap until we do. M2M has recently posted images of unguided bombs, rocket pods, and Exocets (presumably for the Greek variant) on their development page. The ARMAT would be a nice addition to that, but it is already a good arsenal for what is primarily an interceptor. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
jojo Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) OK. For sure, in AG the 2000 RDI can use : - MK-82 on fuselage hard points - GBU-12/16/24 for buddy lasing - 68mm rockets - 30mm gun Without enough data to make a Mirage 2000 D, in my opinion the best option would be a Mirage 2000 EG/ H for AG fun. But data on complex weapon use (like AM-39 Exocet) are difficult to find. Anyway, a Mirage 2000 C RDI as described above (limited AG) would still be the best Mirage 2000 out there  And I still wait to see a fighter with AG radar in DCS :music_whistling: Edited September 20, 2015 by jojo Mirage fanatic !
