Old links in New Post Notification

When I click a link in an email that notifies me about a new post in a thread I have subscribed to, I am usually send to a page in that thread that is very old instead of the latest one(s). Mostly it is either about 2/3s into the thread, or about seven pages back.

 

After I log in, the links seem link to the actual latest page, but I don't know if that is always the case.

 

 

Is this something that could be changed as to always link to the latest?
