I am still having issues with ILS landings in the A10-A. I created a mission to practice landing with a few armored vehicles for target practice. When I return, I select ILS mode by pressing "1" then fly to the assigned point about 2 miles out from the strip. I don't see anything on the HUD except the additional vertical velocity marker.

I remember reading that the ILS markers are not the large vertical and horizontal lines that you see in the manual, but maybe a "course director" but I don't see that either (maybe I'm thinking of the F-15). Can anyone post a link or a screen shot that shows me what I should be seeing?

Thanks

I was having the same problem, the thing is, it seems that it will refuse to guide you if you are too off from the glideslope. First use the HSI to align yourself with the runway, when you are close enough the ADI will guide you, also as far as I know the HUD won't really help.

First let me say that I'm no pro, in fact I bought FC3 a couple of days ago and today was my first day flying the Warthog, what follows is what I managed to learn playing around, so there might be better ways to do it, but this certainly works

Here's a couple of screens with instructions:

Bad course, ILS won't work, use the HSI (marked with a red circle) to align with the airfield

To use the HSI to get the right course, to do so just follow the dotted line. The white bar should end right in front of the plane indicator.

The bar will start to get close to the center after a while, just before it gets there start turning towards the arrow that indicates the correct heading

keep flying following the HSI, the ILS will start working when you are close enough to the airfield, provided you followed the correct course.

Now just follow the ADI and the AoA indicator to land the plane. If you have flown the Su33 watch out, the AoA indicator is inverted here, an arrow pointing Up means reduce speed, pointing Down means increase speed, this confused me as in the Su33 is the other way around.

As you can see the conditions were very poor on this landing, this was just a coincidence, created a fast mission with random weather, but I still managed to get to the airfield an land without problems.

EDIT On some airfields ILS just doesn't work, can't confirm this but only the airfields that has the landing path indicated will have ILS, maybe the others has russian ILS, don't really know.
