Havner Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I have 3 problems that I think might have one cause (they are related) 1. Desired track autopilot route mode behaves exactly like desired heading. It doesn't try to go back on track 2. ADI is not showing bank and pitch steering banks. They are always centered. Additionally DIR is always visible, meaning there is no track information 3. HSI, the Desired Track Angle is showing some awkward direction, that has nothing to do with my real track. It all looks like PVI somehow is not providing track info. I've tried in few missions, having an auto start, and doing startup procedure myself. It always happens. On the other hand ABRIS is showing track deviation info properly. What possibly I might be missing? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ShuRugal Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Can you post a track file? All i can assume from what you've posted is that you are approaching waypoint 1 and trying to get DTA to work doing so? if your are approaching waypoint 1, autopilot cannot operate in DTA mode, as the PVI-800 doesn't have a previous waypoint to extrapolate a heading from. If you are having this problem going from 2-3, 3-4, etc etc... need more info.
Havner Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 You might be completely right. Yes, thank you. I remember this working previously and now I just noticed it doesn't and tried to fix it before flying further. I never knew and never noticed it doesn't work for 0->1. I'll check tommorow and will let know. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Havner Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 Flying 1->2 made the desired track route mode and HSI work properly. But the ADI is still dead. Red DIR in the upper left corner and the needles are centered. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ShuRugal Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 hmm, now that you mention it, i don't know that i have ever seen the ADI steering bars operate. the DIR flag is always displayed. I find it slightly incredulous that a major flight instrument would simply be left non-functional in the sim, so i assume there must be a particular procedure to engage them that I am not aware of. Unless, of course, they only work when used with ILS approach, which is non-functional in BS (and about as useless as tits on a boar for a helicopter anyway.)
Havner Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 Unless, of course, they only work when used with ILS approach, In Flaming Cliffs they operate as a helper how you should fly to get you on a path to a selected track. In BS it could work the same way (that's what I assumed). That they point you to fly the same way a Route mode would in a particular moment if it was turned on. Would be awkward if they were meant only for ILS by design, especially in a helicopter. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Flagrum Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 ADI steering bars are not implemented: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=725462&postcount=4
Havner Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 ADI steering bars are not implemented: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=725462&postcount=4 Thank you. That sums it up. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ShuRugal Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 perhaps the flight manual should be updated to reflect this, then?
