Whiskeybravo Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Thanks Derbysieger, you've described exactly how it was for me with 1.27 but 1.28 is different for some reason. Maybe the .diff.lue file extension is the issue. What's interesting here is that the column titles in the above post reflect the fact that a Warthog HOTAS is installed. In the scenie below you can see that my system only recognises the stick and throttle as a 2 axis 19 button joystick and a 5 axis 32 button joystick. Could this be the issue? ALthough, having said that, it was like that in 1.27 and still worked OK. Anyone know how to force DCS to recognise the Warthog HOTAS? Regards, WB. SOLVED: The above pictures were what provided me with the key to solving this issue. Despite the fact that windows recognises my HOTAS as the Warthog, DCS listed the throttle and joystick as 5 axis 32 button joystick and 2 axis 19 button joystick respectively. This is how it was for 1.27 and all worked OK with DCS recognising and using the default Warthog profile. With 1.28, DCS would not recognise my setup as a Warthog and hence a lot of the functionality was lost. After much gnashing of teeth and testing nothing worked including the many suggestions in this thread. Eventually, I searched the windows registry for every entry with '5 axis 32 button joystick' and '2 axis 19 button joystick' and replaced them with 'Throttle - HOTAS Warthog' and 'Joystick - HOTAS Warthog' and hey presto problem solved. I spent the best part of two and a half days trouble shooting the problem and the fix took 5 mins to implement. I've no idea why Windows chose to list the Warthog the way it did though I suspect an error during instillation a couple of months back. Thanks to everyone who offered help and good luck to those still having issues around joystick set-up. Regards, WB.
v2tec Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 (edited) If you are using TARGET with TM Warthog like I am (I only use it only for the Throttle, Joystick and MFDS are own devices since I don't need to customize those), you can create your own "default" device profile for A-10C just by copying 'Throttle - HOTAS Warthog.lua' in DCS folder to 'Thrustmaster Combined.lua'. It will use it as default profile for device 'Thrustmaster Combined' and all the 3-position switches work as they should, as long as you map the relevant switches to DX buttons same way as the throttle has for default. Can not confirm. Means the same as loading the profile manually in the controller settings page. Still missing the boat-switch, pinky-switch, ... settings. :( The Throttle - HOTAS Warthog (xxx).lua files are working (boat and pinky switches...), but when I use TARGET and I got Thrustmaster Combined (xxx).lua profile the switches won't work. Even if I copy the content from HOTAS to Combined profile, the switches won't work. Therefore I guess that after the 1.28 Patch the Combined Profile is no longer identified as an valid Thrustmaster warthog profile. What are the .diff.lua files for? Are they new after the patch? Normally I have .lua files for my configuration, but when I want to load a profile it filters for .diff.lua files, which have a totally different file format. Normally I have .lua files for my configuration, but when I want to load a profile it filters for .diff.lua files, which have a totally different file format. Let me explain how I got it to work, I copied \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Input\A-10C\joystick\Throttle - HOTAS Warthog.lua to \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Input\A-10C\joystick\Thrustmaster Combined.lua When I start A-10C in DCS, it'll use this as default profile for TM Combined and basically think it's a TM Throttle. BUT you have to have exactly same DX buttons in the Combined as in the default Throttle. Then, if you make changes to the TM Combined input options, DCS will create \Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\A-10C\joystick\Thrustmaster Combined {xxx}.diff.lua with ONLY the changes you make. So it's fundamentally different system than before. I haven't used manual loading of profiles in DCS so I can't comment about that, but perhaps 1.2.8 broke something in there?

It now works for me too. I only modified the files in the savegame folder and was wondering why nothing happens... ________________________ ________ ______ ___ __ _ Win10 64 Pro, i7-6800K 3.4Ghz, 32 GB (DDR4), Asus Aorus 1080 TI WF, TrackIR 5 / RIFT, Thrustmaster Warthog, Fanatec Pedals, 55" oled 4k TV, Modules:A10C, KA-50, Huey, AV-8B, FA-18, F-16, NTTR, Persian Gulf _ __ ___ ____ _____ ______ _______ ____________
desmoflex Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Hi, Can someone explain how the concept with the diff.lua is intended to work and how to read the content of that diff.lua file? Thx much! Rgds Flex
