"Other Side" flight profile question.

After a long absence I've started a new Deployment campaign, and I am coming up to the famous "Other Side" mission, and I have a question:

 

Last time I played this mission I remember learning the "optimal" flight profile for climbing and fuel economy, but I can't remember it anymore.

 

So, any help would be appreciated: what's the best approach to conserve fuel and crest the mountain range?
