Quick efficient AI bombing

Hi all, I have a mission where I need an AI flight to destroy eighteen static planes on a runway in the quickest and most efficient way possible. For Russia, which plane type would be best for this and how would I setup the flight.

 

Also seem to have trouble having planes in an AI flight expend their munitions not just have the flight lead fire weapons. Thanks any help would be appreciated!

Quickest way is to just have the AI flight fly over the target and then explode unit or trigger an explosion in a zone you've created around each aircraft or every couple of aircraft to simulate an attack / bombing run.

 

I assume you mean quickest and most efficient way to perform the attack? Or do you mean the setup in the mission editor?

Tactical bombers (most likely to do this): Su-34, Su-24

Strategic bombers: Tu-22M

Light attack aircraft: Su-17

In the advanced waypoint options, when you give them the bombing task check the "Group Attack" box.

FAB-250's in large numbers looks like a very good payload for this (I'm assuming the mission is to destroy the planes and not necessarily inflict max runway damage, so no penetration bombs).

 

Su-34 carries 24

Su-24 only carries 8, but can carry 30 FAB-100 which might be just as good. Su-34 carries 36 FAB-100 for reference

Su-17 carries 12 FAB-250

Tu-22 carries infinity FAB-250 (I forget the exact number, but more than enough)

 

A mission like this would probably involve flying low to avoid enemy detection and increase bomb accuracy, but the pay loads will be really draggy so depending on where the bombers takeoff from, there might be some medium altitude cruising to save fuel.

 

I had success with two pairs of two Su-34 carrying the FAB-250's making a pass over the parked aircraft. You could get away with just one flight of two Su-34's though. One thing I noticed is that flight lead gets in the way of number 2 before 2 can drop all the bombs, but I destroyed all the planes in my test run anyway.
