Red Yeti Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Hi, is it possible to use rotary switches in DCS? I mean such swichtes like the PVI 800 mode selector switch or the ID selector switch of the KA50. In the ingame options, it is only possible to rotate the switch to the left or right. Does anyone have experience with it?
Mano Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I'm interested too in this. I have rotary encoders but they have no steps like the rotary switches. However they work best with dcs because they recognize left and right rotation. While switches should have one specific keystroke for every step. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Thick8 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Sure. Just use break before make rotory switches. I have 45 and 30 degree switches that are 4, 5, or 12 positions. You just have to hook up as many positions you need plus a ground. I think they were about 85 cents each. Mano Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) Yes but consider that i have a 4 pos switch. The intention is to use it for a command in dcs that is activated with incremental or decremental keystrokes, i.e alt+[ to dec, alt+] to inc. How does the switch or the software know which direction i am going? A 4 pos switch is intended to assign a different (or the same eventually) output for each position. It doesn't understand which direction I'm turning . Edited August 10, 2014 by Mano [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Red Yeti Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Hi, thank you! But im looking for a way to map the switch like it is in the sim.
Mano Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 The problem is that the switch accepts specific outputs for every position so you should have a specific keystroke for every function of the switch you want to simulate. Instead the program has mapped that switch to work like inc or dec function or like a potentiometer. I'm curious too to understand how other pit builders have solved this problem. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GregP Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 The answer lies here and is going to make your day. :)
